Ok so i turn up, I warm up, I even get into the ring then the next thing im told my opponent has gone and they will try and find me a replacement. The morning goes by so i assume its just my second bout i ask when im on only to be told that my second guy is also a no show and i dont get a fight the hole day. So basically i wasted my day oaid my fee spent the money in fuel on didnt get a single fight.... What a joke

Bad luck Buddy. I watched your fight it was good man. Pretty pissed off with the bad organization that ended up with me not getting a fight and 3 of my team mates only getting one. Not good.

Sorry to hear that. Would have thought someone would have stepped up. There is usually this problem with Combat Sports Open when someone can't fight their 2nd fight or whatever and they usually get replacements for people.

Yep i would have thought the same but it seems not. It was both bouts aswell so its not even like they had been injured in there first fight or anything. Its almost like they have weighed in and then just gone. I think maybe it was all down to bad organization more than anything which is a shame.

andy mentioned that they may change the format for the future because people keep weighing in, having one bout and then pissing off without telling anyone, which keeps making problems like this

Well the problem here is someone must have turned up weighted in and then left without a single fight, either that or not turned up at all in which case why did they not sort it. im sure most people got 2 fights so for anybody to not get a single fight is just down to bad planning. Still not heard from them with a reason why i didnt get a fight. I hope there is a good one. Its a shame that problems like this are coming up cos its a good event other than not actually fighting.
I don't know what weight you were fighting at but one of the guys i went down there with wieghed in at welter ( wel actualy a bit over), got told his fight woukld be in about half hour, then gets told his opponants gone and they'll find him soime one else, he got realy pissed off but stayed around, then they tell him they can't find him any one, so he leaves. The next thing we know about 20 minutes lter there calling his name and theres an expectant guy waiting for him in the ring ready to go, poor sod.
Good event but a bit more organization wouldn't go amiss.
Oh and i lost via ko second round to cory tait but had fun doing it so never mind.
Bad luck Andy. Did you say you had a semi pro then an amateur? I guess you didn't do the amateur in the end?
Anyone got full results?

I think part of the problem was pretty much everyone who lost in their semi finals left, even though they were all scheduled for a second bout if they lost. But because they weren't going to win the finals, they weren't in the mood to continue and several left without telling people.
On a positive note, the semi pro fights were all awesome, as were all the amateur fights at the end of the day when no-one had anything riding on it and they just wanted to fight. Also some really good fights throughout the day.
Sorry that you guys had a disappointing day, but hopefully Andy gets all this sorted for next time.
Take care,

Yep im a welter and was waiting in the ring for my opponent so im guessing he was my guy. So it all goes down to bad organization. I dont understand how this can happen. If this is the way the event is going to be run i wont bother with it again.

Sorry mate, was referring to Andy Page, lol. I hope they gave you a refund and free entrance to the next event at least, or is it free to enter?

So far i have had nothing back..... not even a reply to my email. Lets wait and see
Luke i was down for 2 semi pro, second of which never happened, thank god cause i was fucked.
Simpy, all i can say is, well theres not much to say, Baz left effing and blinding saying that he may just go back to body building and jack it in all together and you were left with your arse in the wind.
I hope one of the organizers sees this thread and could offer a responce, not so we can hurl abuse, ( although some people may have a right to) but so there can be something constructive to come out of it, like how to organize fighters, when there fighting, etc. Probley just a pipe dream though.

Hi Andy not a good result then for you, never mind mate it's all good experience ! Shame about Baz been wondering all day how he did, no chance he will pack he'll be back training this week. Shame there was problems with people pulling out it must be a nightmare to sort fights out when that happens.

Any new's on how Killer did ( Simon Chapple ) heard he was fighting Oliver Geddes.
Stalkachu
25-05-2009, 07:14 PM
He lost a decision.
...okay, I'll stop being mysterious. I am Oliver Geddes, and I beat him on points. He was tough, but he threw a lazy leg kick at the beginning and I managed to take him down and score some points and try some submissions. Didn't finish anything (and he slammed me hard on my head, which really hurt), but I managed to control the position and the judges sided with me in the end. Tough guy though.
Is he looking to go pro in the near future, or...?
Take care,
Stalks

Sorry not sure what Simon's plans are, he may do some semi pro at a guess,
Did you win the comp then? What about you whats your plans.
Stalkachu
25-05-2009, 09:19 PM
Yeah, I won the finals in the end, got lucky with a sweep and got the guys back and flattened him out for the choke.
My plans? I don't really know yet. I'll try and have a shot at the grapple and strike amateur belt next, I think. Probably too late in the season, but hopefully I can put in a decent enough performance at round 3 to earn a shot in the finals and maybe (just maybe) get myself a belt to put around my waist. ^_^
Ultimately though, I'm a grappler, and I'll fight semi pro when my striking is good enough that I can last long enough standing to get it the floor. So probably another year or so.
(Yeah, I'm basically a pussy. Willing to admit it, too. ^_-)
Take care,
Stalks
Cheers Andy, have to say im not dissapointed with it at all, i had a great deal of fun dispite nerves and gassing and that was all i wanted from it realy, will see you training this week hopefuly.

Yeah it took the mick, considering they couldn't offer you a fight they should have volenteered the money back. Maybe they need to make it one fight per fighter, seems like only a couple of fighters actually wanted to fight twice.
Personally I had a great time, very lucky to get two fights, esp at LHW. Ended up with two draws which I'm fairly happy with, felt great striking, just wish I'd have done a bit more of it! Got alot of stuff to work on now. A lot of fun, especially when I managed to escape a tight guillotine near the end and everyone cheered!

Well done mate you did really well. Middle next time tho i think.
They need to do something with the format to stop things like this happening. Still no reply no reason why i didnt get to fight nothing. Really pissed off

Okay, I raised this on facebook, but just wondered if I could get an opinion from you guys:
...do you think, after you win an Amateur MMA 'Season', that you should re-enter? Or should you either change organisation or step up to Semi-Pro?
Just not sure what the etiquette is, and I feel kinda guilty planning to re-enter.
What say you?
Take care,
Stalks
Nah... just go in and raise hell :D
I guess it's down to the individual. I'll be most likely sticking at Amateur and the odd Semi Pro as I'll never have the time to devote going Pro.
Well i'm the same as luke ameture and semi pro. Can't see any etiquet as such for it, just depends on what makes you happy.
I mean do you want to test your standup out yet? against possabley a european kickboxing champ whos been competeing scince he was 14, in your first fight? ( sorry had to get that in there:D )
ok, finally got the vids on youtube.
First battle of the pokemon

Oli, I got through to the G&S finals with only 2 fights in the league. I got lucky because one guy above me fought pro before the final and another guy couldn't make it.
You may as well do round 3 this year and see what happens.
