Got a stinker at the moment, been taking echinacea but doesn't seem to have any effect.

i take huge amounts of vitamin c at the first sign of a cold , 4-6grams a time, but once its well in your system its gonna stay there for a day or two.

I never seem to get colds or viruses or any of that crap; only really get ill when I have the flu (REAL flu, not "man" flu) or injury myself (which happens semi-frequently)

Hi,

No science behind the vit C...lots of new published reports on it this year...

One of the things with colds is that they clear up after a few days on their own...so you get a cold...it gets worse over a couple of days...so you dump loads of vit c/x/y/z...and it clears up in a couple of days, so must be the vit c/x/y/z? Nope, it was going anyway...

Best thing to do is just eat healthily and keep your immune system in good shape...rather than put chemicals in...

Just some thoughts...

What about training when you have a cold?

Is it really so bad?

All the people you give it to would prob think so!

i completely disagree about vit c having no effect. I suffer with colds CONSTANTLY and get a lot of chest infections afterwards usually. Sometimes if i had a really hard training session i would wake up with a snotty nose and a full on cold the day later. About 2 month ago i decided to start taking 10g vit c a day and i havent had one cold. Co-incidence ? Maybe but i seriously feel its helped and will continue to take them.

yeah vit c is def good if you have a cold dontg beleive the latest "science reports" they are at best , a crock of shite , in ten years time the scientists will be telling you this causes cancer and that causes cancer, whatever suits them at the time , vitamin c is tried and tested over many years.

Also vitamin C is needed in the body for many many things, and to say that the W.H.O recommended intake of 60mg a day is satisfactory is laughable ( waltzes to cupboard and takes ridiculous amounts of supplements )

I agree with Detoxgurus method on this.
He once posted that when he feels it coming on, he'd take a gram every waking hour.
Usually when I feel a cold coming on I know it's gonna be a good few days of feeling shite, but I've taken a gram every waking hour for two days the last 3 times i've felt it coming on and by the end of the next day my symptoms have been gone. This is a BIG bonus to me because I have bad asthma and colds can fuck me up royally.

I'd DEFINATELY go with the high vitamin c intake method. It works for me definetely!

by the time you've finished eating them the cold should be gone anyway xD
