EDIT: yeah its pretty time consuming, but trust me you wont regret it

the best prank of all time was the 'war of the worlds' radio broadcast in 1938.
how many pranks have sent an entire nation into chaos:D

That wasn't really a prank though, they stated before the broadcast that it was a work of fiction. Not that it really helped!

nope, didn't help at all. insane reaction by the entire country.
watched a documentary on it last week, they actually didn't mention it as fiction until after they had finished the story, by then most people had left their radios to run for their lives, lol.

I'm pretty sure they started by stating it was an adaption of a novel. All the reports I've ever read have said that.

Just checked and Wiki says the same... and it also says the panic was overstated?

the docu didnt mention them stating it before, just after. whatever they did people didnt know it was a hoax and thought aliens were genuinly attacking:D apparently it caused chaos, but the initial reports of suicides etc were apparently overstated.

a few years later a south american radio station tried the same prank and the station was burnt to the ground and the broadcasters killed by angry civilians when they found out it was a hoax.
