When Marcus Davis enters the Ultimate Fighting Championship Octagon at UFC 99 in Cologne, Germany to fight Dan Hardy, it's personal.

The beef began following Hardy's UFC 95 knockout win over Rory Markam, where he made comments directed towards Davis' Irish heritage, but quickly escalated after Hardy allegedly encouraged British fans to post Photoshopped pictures of Davis online depicting the American as a homosexual.

I think that whatever the outcome tonight he needs to back-track on this P.R. strategy as it alienates a lot of potential overseas fans ...

He's strictly Irish-American I guess which to me is the same as saying African-American. My Bob Marley reference has some truth to it though and we are all entitled to our own personal expression and belief in our cultural background .. blah, blah, etc. :D

The view that I keep hearing over here in Ireland is 'is Dan Hardy Irish? If not then why is he bothered?' I guess it would make more sense for a real Irishman to be calling out Davis! I know that it's all fight-hype but not everyone can see through this and Dan may get labeled as a 'typical Brit' ... oh the irony LOL.

A race is defined as having certain cultural, linguistic as well as unique genetic characteristics. The Irish meet all of those requirements.
