I dont think this should or will happen.

Serra said he only wants big fights that make a lot of sense as he is retiring soon. Not that Dan isn't a big fight, but I think someone like Parisyan should fight Serra or he should just retire and focus on his schools.

Hardy vs Swick would be a war... I think Serra would tap Hardy fast though...

I think if hardy would fight swick, swick would do his best to spoil the fight and make it shit. i wanna see hardy fight another exciting fighter. not one who is happy to bore out a decision! but saying that hardy would most prob over come swicks spoiling and pull it out of the bag!

Swick is in the top 10 so this fight wont happen anytime soon.hardy vs johnson is a good match up

swick ain't top 10 who's he beat a ww who was worth a top 10 position, i think hardy should fight lytle, swick will probably fight a top 10 guy i his next fight, dan should not fight johnson.

No offense intended to you here personally mate

But there has been numerous posts and threads on this forum regarding future matchups with dan hardy, and on these posts, people are claiming dan would smash thi one, smash that one, saying he could be the champ in under 2 years etc.... then they are saying "this one would be a bad match up, that one would be"

People are saying every decent wrestler or jits player would be a bad match up for dan, and if this is so, he will never be a top 5 fighter, never!

he cant just fight strikers the whole time, and if a match up with serra comes up, he will just need to live with it period, and i gauruntee you bad match up or not, dan would jump at that fight!

I never once said dan would be the champ or a be a top 5 fighter, he has potential though his stand up is probably the most solid in the division, but like all fighters he has weaknesses most notably his takedown defence and bjj, although they are not weak, they are just not at the same level as a guy like george st.pierre with world class wrestling and a black belt bjj, the guy just ran through a bjj world champ on the ground, dan is not a mundials champion so he will need to strengthen his ground defence even more to deal with gsp, matt serra is a bad match-up the guy is one of the best bjj practioners out of the usa thats a bad ground match up for anyone, if dan can improve his wrestling serra is in trouble in that fight. If you were to put dan against the no2 ww in the world in thiago alves i'd say that would be a good match up.
I just think dan needs to fight guys that will benefit him stylistically until he can strengthen his ground game to match the elite grapplers in the division, which i'm sure a man of his intelligence is already doing.

i wasnt saying you personally where saying that mate

and i personally think dans stand up is no-where near the best in the division.

Alves would currently smash dan imho, dan would need a good few fights before he reaches that level

Serra would be a good match-up, considering that he now thinks he's a boxer.

I said the most solid, it is he gets tagged a hell of a lot less than the other strikers as he has a good lead hand,
who would you say is a better striker?
I'd say thiago alves, i would say gsp but his chin is questionable, so you never know whats gonna happen with him also he isn't standing in fights very much at all anymore.

I think Serra would be a great match for Hardy. Not to say that I favor either of them to win but it being mma I think often times the most exciting fights come with the mix of styles.

I think Hardy could certainly hold his own on the ground, obviously Serra would have the advantage there but by the same token Hardy would have the stand up advantage.

Personally I'd be way more excited to see this fight that I would to see a Hardy-Swick or Hardy-Davis rematch.

I would like to see Hardy get 5-6 fights in the octagon (like John Fitch did) to build him as a marketable commodity and so he can get his "UFC legs" under him before putting him against the division's elite.

Dan's a great fighter with a huge future ahead of him, what's the point of rushing into bigger name matchups. There's an excellent article on this on sherdog, I think the title is Sacrificing The Young.

i would still pick Hughes by complete gnp domination, but i think that's just old allegiences to hughes and the status he carries, he prob doesn't have what it takes to control the fight there anymore..
