With the faxia rua gi's the colors represent the weight of the gi.

white = single weave
blue = double weave
black = a hell of a work out and opponents losing skin off their fingers.

If you're on the cusp of two sizes, would it be better to get the smaller one and hope you lose a bit of weight or to get the larger one and try to shrink it a little?

Also, how do you go about shrinking a Gi? What temperatures etc?

I get an A3 Keiko and wash it about 60 deg, after 2 washes it's awesome.

60 degrees OK cheers.

Keikos fit tall slim people better than short stocky types like me don't they?

No mate, personally and talking to one of the boys on Monday about this, I find the Jackets fit the shorter stockier people (like me) I'm just under 5 10 and about 14 stone. An A3 Jacket fits me awesome but an A2 trousers would be better.

I washed my A3 trousers at 90 twice and now they fit nice (I wouldn't recommend to anyone else washin g over 60 deg just encase you wreck them), I have also got A2 trousers in Blue and white and mix them with the A3 Jackets.

i washed my dragao double weave A4 at 90 degrees, yes 90 to shrink it to fit. it#s weave is now so close i think it has similar properties to kevlar

David makes a good point, when a gi has been shrunk quite aggressively it does make it very nice and tough.

make sure you hang dry in the sun for best results also, never tumble dry.

my mate now has a Gi for his 10 year old daughter as a result of his wife giving his Gi "a quick tumble" :D
