bad bad news.

espn broadcast champions league matches out here and they are DIABOLICALLY bad.,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qormKMfFJE

"great hustle from beckham"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eqth8Eo80EY

"gotta be a PK"
"this game brought to you by..."
"triple team on the deee-fence"

the classic bit of commentary came in the charity shield the other year when it went to penalties, sorry, i mean PK's.

petr cech took his head gear off and the two yank commentators were at a loss as to who was now in goal.
they actually said this:

"who is it in goal for chelsea? he's wearing cechs 'jersey' but it's not cech, who is it?"
to which the co commentator in angry tone says:
"this cannot be fair, they can't make substitutions after the final whistle, it seems they have brought on a specialist PK goalkeeper"

it took them 2 penalties before they realised it was cech without the head protector.

utter wrong'uns.'

not to mention the adverts, twice last season i missed first 10 minutes of the 2nd half due to the half time adverts overunning:mad:
the pre match build up is literally 30 seconds of talking, 5 mins of adverts

KEEP YANKS AWAY FROM OUR FOOTBALL

It's safe to say that ESPN will use UK based commentators

where are you londonpride?

I'm in calgary, canada - and i'm gutted that the SPL dropped setanta today too. Means that no-one is currently carrying scottish football next season and setanta was my only way to see it over here.

ESPN are effectively called TSN up here in Canada so i'm hoping that at least i'll get some decent Premiership action next year. Be shite if the commentary is yankstain tho.....

woops. nightmare mate.

TSN = The Sports Network. Canada's sports channel which i think is owned 51% by ESPN.

Cant complain about them at all because they show all the WEC events which is total class. I'd sacriifice english footy commentary for the WEC anyday haha.

Would swap you ozzie weather for canadian weather anyday mind you..............:o

at least they show something decent to make up for it then.
espn here don't show anything of worth apart from the football with the bog awful, clueless commentary and punditry as well as non stop adverts and shot coverage. wish it'd fuck off and go bankrupt instead of setanta:(

infact i'm watching setanta right now, review of the fa cup season and now an advert for buncys boxing hour.
im gonna miss setanta:mad:

I hope they do have American commentators. I'll start watching football again for pure comedy value
