One of the lads at work who is a bit of a future serial killer is selling his airsoft gun and is hounding me to buy it ( he is probably saving up for the real deal and will come to work in a trenchcoat and wipe us all out ).
I have never been paintballing or airsofting ( or whatever its called ) but I'm planning on going sometime in the near future as I have always fancied it.
Anyone know how much these usually go for 2nd hand ? He wants 60 quid for it with 2 clips ( think he said they were a fiver each )
Are they any good ?

If it's battery powered or gas powered it's worth a go. If however it's light plastic and made in china, give it a wide berth. Also find out it's fire speed. If it fires at 300+ Feet per socond it's good enough.

It's battery powered. He is a proper nerd and looks after it well, he bought the scope, red dot sight and few other bits ( he's always going on about it ). I told him I didnt want the scope or dot sight. I mainly want to shoot shit in my back garden for a bit of fun so it's pointless really.

Yeah, but with little gay plastic bb's.
Airsoft are just toys. Get a proper air rifle.

Well I bought it, it's actually a g3a3. Had a little test and it seemed decent but the accuracy was a bit off, he started panicing and fiddling around with it and got it to an acceptable level so I bought it.
Got it home, shot the shit out of a few cereal boxes, plastic bottles etc in the garden for half hour or so and then put it away bored
Dunno what exactly I expected but I guess it was fun for a bit LOL

Jak mine is full black, I hear you can get into trouble if hasnt got an orange tip ?
Also I have decided the accuracy is pretty shit, anything you can do to increase it yourself ?
Do the pistols only come in shitty see-thru or wild colours. Would love a beretta or deagle.

If the rifle is of quality, there should be an adjuster that allows you to change the angle of the bbs flight path. You can adjust it so that the bb shoots up or down or whatever. In the U.K. I don't think that it's legal to have an orange tip but is always a good idea. Depending on where you come from , the gun has to be a certain percentage of a bright ungunlike colour.
A lot of the british pistols will come in see through colours or whatever but you can get them pretty much as replicas in weight, feel, ammunition capacity and firing rate. Not only that but you can get numerous accesories such as your scopes and sights, extra hand grips etc. If you're going for a Desert Eagle you can even get it in gold or even tiger stripe. The gas blowback D Eagle is really cool and has a great kick but has the downside of being very heavy and exceptionally long if you have the special edition long barrel which increases your accuracy. If it's what floats your boat though, by all means get one. Avoid chinese companies and instead go for Japanese which in my experience so far are much better.
Enjoy!

Like Weegie said, depending on the quality you can do things to alter the accuracy. Also none of mine have orange tips. I've heard rumours of it being illegal without them but every gun show/ airsoft market/ shop etc. iv gone too theyve all been cool and everything is in black or silver etc. and looks real.
You can shop online for them, i found a AWESOME site, but forgot the name. ill see if i can dig it up.

Unfortunately not. They're disigned for folk to actually shoot each other with in Airsoft battles.
If you're wanting to kill Rabbits or pidgeons etc. you'll need to get yourself a .22 air rifle with a force of under 14 foot pounds of pressure to conform with firearm regulations that apply to the general public.
Go for a .22 over a .177. .177s may shoot faster, but the kinetic energy from the pellet of a .22 is much higher which is actually what kills the animal. You might want to invest in a scope also as to avoid maiming or wounding the animal. What you want is a good outright kill.
