andy took a fight over in belfast against a very expierenced and tough Emmet Mcnally despite having ben training mma less than a year

He fought another very expierenced tough and talented irish fighter in Adain Marron

And he fought Steve Lynch knowing he had signed to fight in the ufc, he doesnt duck people. He is a very talented fighter, its a pity he was sick last week as he looked good in training and the fight with joe nugent would have been class. Its also a pity he has moved to brazil as he was a good guy for us to have around, never gives an inch in training

maybe when your ready to fight we can hook up you v andy???

andy would never duck an opponent!!! i trained with andy 4 his fight against joe nugent & he was lookin very gd. nightmare 2 spar with on the feet & on the ground. his fight with joe would have been very exciting.

What a dissrespectful post

Im sure you aint talking for most of the other dinky ninja's with that comment.

Obviously you havnt seen Mair fight. Both top fighters in their weight cat's in this country, and would make for a sellout event and highly anticipated matchup.

Willie-Scott
26-07-2009, 04:06 PM
James has just came down in weight from 84kgs to 77kgs and as of yet hasnt fought at the weight , Quinny is a proven 77kg fighter so not speaking for James ( incidently James no longer trains with me ) but James may have ideas on fighting someone with the same experience at fighting 77kgs..As mentioned before it would definitely make a great match up on any event and a real crowd pleaser im sure....

So you did not think that was a respectful post?

As for Dean, whats the big deal with my name is mate, I only ever come on to discuss matters in mma, and i feel i do it respectfully mate, I never come on trolling or mixing it up, I have a genuine interest in the sport in this country.

As for the post regarding McViegh's fight, both as bad as each other then ehh!

And alan Love, what you going on about man? I trully feel that you have a utter attitude when it comes to teams outwith the dinky ninjas on this forum at times with some of your posts. talk of your guys smashing this one and that one, you ought to catch a grip.

I really do not want to start an argument on this, but when somethings said against anyone relating to your team, some start this childish nonsense.

Hurricane, nebver mind what my name is in the future man, it doesnt really matter, and i apologise if anything was taken out of context in the McVigh post.

And honestly, would anyone else here brasingly come out and say that Quinn would be to much for mair? I think Quinn is currently the best in the division in this country, but with Mair, who undoubtably in my opinion was the best middleweight in the country moving down, its another great challenge For John Quinn, which could only be good for the sport in Scotland.

pretty sure love machine was being sarcastic saying disrespect...i think what he's getting at is all the people on the forum constantly goin on about 'respect this respect that' etc etc etc
seems like people can say whatever shit they want as long as somewhere in the post they right the word respect.

regarding pauls fight....i dont care if people think paul will win or not...my issue was that the guy said chris manuel would basically choose how and when he'd win...which is fucking bullshit.
if he came out and said..."i think chris is too much for paul in this case blah blah blah" then fine....his opinion...

anyway...i wasnt offended by anything you said....i was just pointing out what i thought was blatent hypocrisy on your part as 'dinkyninja's post was pretty tame and you seemed to have an over the top reaction to it......its not like you train with james and want to back him up is it?

regards guinny and mair...think it would be a great fight....james would prob have a size advantage over quinny ,but i see JQ as a better all round fighter and would take the win

anyway....i'm not trying to start arguing.....i go to most fight shows usually wearing a ridiculous t shirt...think dennis the menace or cartoon skull with wings.... so if anyone wants to call me on anything i say then come talk to me.

I wear my heart on my sleeve, especially when it comes to my friends. I make no apologises for that. I'm not two faced and the attitude in my posts in here are no different to the one you'd see from me at a show or in the gym. I'm not going to act like a douche at a show then come on here and act all nicey nice. I think it's easier that way. Not everyone is the same though.

I'd disagree with you on the best Scottish Middleweight issue but I would, wouldn't I?

And writing of John quinn's chances of making it to the UFC, don't you think that's a bit "disrespectful"? I think if there's any Scottish fighter that could make it to the UFC it would be Quinny, or possibly James Jarvie and I see no reason why he can't make it there if he keeps progressing at the rate he is.

Lol at this thread, good luck with the show willie.

John Quinn and james Jarvie are easy up there with the guys from the recent TUF and i believe it was only tv politics that stopped them getting any further than the last 25.
And you throw James mair in the mix hes another potential, but we need to see how his game is at 77kg he certainly is a handfull at 84kg.
Im sure when the ufc eventually has a show in scotland you will see some of these guys on the card.

John Quinn is very under rated, perfect pro record and hasnt showed anything near his full potential, Ive been helping out with his stand up and he is great to coach, intelligent and highly motivated.I know Marcos and doug say the same about him in jits and John Nic and the d-unit has helped turn him into a well rounded, well conditioned fighter. Probably the most well rounded mma fighter in scotland.
I know John is fighting UFC veteran Thomas Egan soon, will be a good indicator of how he is devloping.

Was gutted he never made it on to TUF (on a side note Andy Scnape went to vegas for the final interviews sailed through them and never made the show when they did back ground reports)

Im also a big fan of James Mair and have yet to see him in a boring fight.

Maybe Im being a wee bit harsh, and i dont train with any of you, so my opinion on this matter is really bollox to be honest, but I feel that the MMA scene is a lot more competitive down south.

Maybe its one of the reasons John never made it to tuff, as he wasnt as well known down south (I dare say politics played a part too)

I would love nothing more than to see a Scotman in the UFC, but do you think anyone in scottish mma is ready to make waves in their respected divisions in the UFC?

This is just an honest opinion, and with James's above post, my head has been turned a tad, as I know Egan was well thought of before his only fight in the UFC!

I hope Quinn does the business, as I think these are the types of guys he needs to be up against, before you can even question him going to the UFC (or that for any other fighter)

I feel that the reason many of our top guys are not as well known in England is that they get paid more fighting in Scotland. All of the promoters in Scotland are closely involved with fight teams and they all treat the fighters really well.

Plus its nice to be able to walk to the venue from your gaff.

i've pretty much fought whoever i'm given north and south of the border, and they're definitely not any better down south.
in-fact, you'd be pulling the shortest straw to get matched with any of the top fighters in scotland imo.
obviously there are more gyms down south, but there are none producing better fighters than the top guys in scotland.
the only difference is, that the guys down south all have funny accents, whereas north, only mcveigh has.

Just logged on to this.

What is it with the Scottish threads these days? There's more conflict and bravado on here than all the other threads on CW put together on.

At the end of the day, we should really be pushing Scottish MMA too, as well as MMA as a whole. We are a much smaller country than the rest, but believe me, we have some great talent up here, and we are constantly evolving, with more teams and events popping up all the time.

Obviously we will have domestic match ups and then there has to be an opinion on the outcome - with friends/team mates/coaches always supporting their own fighters.

I don't let any comments bother me, no matter who posts them. I am a fighter and I fight - I don't get involved in opinions of my own fights. That would be uncool.

As usual, some great/supportive comments by the usual guys though...

Awesome and very respectful post

one of the main reasons a lot of people would have been routing for this guy to be the top middleweight in the country, no attitude, self promoting and the usual boring trash talk like some others.

Would have been good to see James fight Love, would have been fun to watch, but like most others, everyone is cutting weight, so you will probs be stronger at w/w mate

Nice post by james, i find it amusing any time a thread or discussion ends up about what 2 fighters will do to each other it never includes any bad mouthing from the fighters themselves.

I totally agree with James in that our top fighters benefit the scottish scene more fighting and beating other British or international fighters instead of fighting each other. Although there definately are some cracking domestic fights out there in scotland

That will always happen James!

Especially as the vast majority of experienced fighters fight from the Dinky Ninjas. Fans of mma in this country want to see the big domestic fights. Quinn v Mair, if matched up, will be talked about a lot before and probably after the fight.

Would like to see more of the Ninja's on Scottish shows fighting guys like Mair, Jarvie & Carmichael. Im not saying for a moment there is a reason why its not happening more, would just add to the excitement of some guys who actually take a keen interest in the sport in this country!

i know that the likes of Graeme Turner "smashed" Carmichael in the past as Alan love put it, but as was posted by Carmichael, after that fight, he seems to have went from Strength to strength under Willie Mcrackan, so more fights like that in the future would be great too.

I dare say these fights will happen James, hope so anyways.

I dare say these fights will happen James, hope so anyways.

what domestic fights would the fans of mma in scotland like to see?

Theres no weight division for Doolan or Mcviegh

And there are a lot more organizations other than the ufc, I personally think our guys are a bit off just now!

i think McViegh is the only one who has been regularly competing at the top in uk and europe!

To say anyone is ready for the UFC is a bit much dude

That is true well even WEC

I didnt mean i want to see them in WEC/UFC right away was meaning in the future it would be great for Scottish MMA.

Had the likes of Paul Kelly, Terry Etim and Dan Hardy rising through the ranks withink the UFC be nice to see some of the lads named above Follow Suit one day.

Hope someone steps up, going to go through for this one!

there aare some really good 77k fighters in the country just now, probs now one of the strongest, if not the strongest divisions in Scotland just now!

Quinn, Ward, Amro, Nugent etc - Would be good to see one one these boys step in if nothing else on for ck11!

If you cant get anyone at 77kg, maybe lovey would take it at middleweight, i know quinny and scott ward will be on eurofight the day before

Dont think he should take the fight at middleweight, and would bet that he would not either.

He has probably been working very hard to get his walk around weight down to compete at W/W.

Bit of a nightmare that 2 great mma events in scotland are a day apart, I know it couldnt be helped though.

Brazil's been awesome Willie, weather's been a bit pish the last 2 weeks but before that it was great. Training here is at another level in terms of BJJ, rolled with (for that read been SMASHED by) guys who've won worlds and nationals at Black and Brown belt.

Been drinking too much and eating too much steak and Acai to make Welterweight anytime soon or I'd offer to help you out.

What bout bringing up Rob Mills from Newcastle, he's a good 77kg fighter with about the right experience for Mair.

Allan must be a fantastic experience over there .....

I think James is now matched up on the event on the 17th in Glasgow so hopefully get him on against one of the mentioned 77kgs on a future event..
