JOHN Murray suffered the bittersweet sensation of smashing Scott Lawton on Saturday night - and still losing his British lightweight title.

And now the Levenshulme fighter may face more heartache, with the British Boxing Board of Control preparing to hit him with a hefty fine.

Murray failed to make the 9st 9lbs limit by just 1.8 ounces at Friday's weigh-in, and was immediately stripped of his Lonsdale Belt.

Murray's camp were unhappy that the scales were on carpet, the boxer claiming his weight had been bang on according to the scales in his Denton gym.

Thoughts?

Watched this myself and they obviously knew there was a problem because Murray could of weighed in between 1pm and 2pm and he turned up a 1.55 which never gave him enough time to shed the weight. His trainer complained that the scales were not calliborated properly because they were on carpet. There has always been a verbal war between Kahn and Murray with Murray mainly criticising kahn's padded out career and weak opponents. Last week I noticed Kahn who doesn't even usually acknowledge Murray responding to the fact that Murray didn't make weight can't remember exactly what he said but he be-littled Murray as an opponent and basically made out he was pethetic and un proffesional for not making weight. Would love to see Murray v Kahn and would like to see Murray win but think Kahn would be too quick providing he can take Murrays best shot.

Would he be allowed to re-weigh if had the time? If not, that's a strict system that I think is flawed (different scales etc). If so, he has noone to blame but himself. Well, maybe his coaches

Yes as I put before he could weigh in anytime between 1pm and 2pm but he didn't turn up till about 1.50 stripped off got on the scales at about 1.55. He then went off for 5 mins to try and shed the weight with trainers and coaches drying every bead of sweat off him as he went on the scales again bang on 2pm but he was still the same weight so that was why they stripped him of the title. Murray also complained that "it was only the weight of 2 paracetemol".

Ah ok, then not that harsh at all. He should have made weight. 1oz or 1 stone, there is a weight limit and you have to meet it
