Does anyone know a private judo trainer in middlesbrough?

Looking for a few sessions just to learn a proper hip throw and various judo takedowns, but dont wanna start Judo properly, as i dont have the time really, so just a few sessions will do.

Thanx.

Why dont you ask your mma coach to work on some takedowns from the clinch?

I have been taught traditional judo throws and judo throws ju jitsu style and to be honest with you when I ever tried using major hip throws in mma they get telegraphed a mile off by anyone who has been training for a bit and you give your opponant your back as you go in to execute the throw. You can have fun with novices though. The whizzer variation which you do see people pull off in mma is called uchi mata in japenese, and the major/minor and outer/inner reaping throws which are simalar to trips whilst breaking the balance of the top half of the opponent also come in useful. Hope this helps

Judo does not work for MMA unless you are an elite level judoka.

tbh i dont need to see the video, judo can be effective but i wouldnt advise judo techniques unless you are of the highest standard and have put years of pratice in on the mats, i have seen lots of good judoka get choked through this, guys who have competed at a good level. But each to their own.

Yeah I guess thats true, that guy was a black belt judo, so probably knows his shit....

I guess i'll just stick to the basic takedowns, which surely work lol.

this^, best off doing wrestling, and people saying just working wrestling at the mma club, unless your coach and training partners are really good wrestlers you should go to specialists, so many times people become good at everything but not excellent at everything which matters against top level if you wanna get far best to go to specialist trainers then round it up at a mma gym.

With the choke from hip throw is that because the person is trying it from over rather than under the arm allowing an escape to the back, or the throw goes wrong and gives the back allowing a choke?

i find by watching rhadi ferguson(kimbo's cousin) he does some good throws for mma, i.e. the morote gari, but thats basically a single leg.

I bet he'd be chuffed to be described like that !! olympian, BJJ black belt and s&c expert and he gets relegated to Kimbo's fucking cousin !!

you have a Freestyle Wrestling club on your doorstep, plus abduls 3 lions which both will cover hip throws, shoulder throws and anything else you want covererd, stockton Freeestyle wrestling club has at least 6 british champions training there plus senior coach is an internationl referee so i think you would be in good company, pretty much sick of telling people who post on here especially when its on their doorstep.
