Has Dave Faulkner retired after going out on his shield in his UFC fight? I remember him saying after his war, he was going in to be a pro wreslter or act in horror movies.
Any News???

Faulkner was pathetic
Not for giving up (cos I heard he had some serious lung punctures or something)
But his whole "least I enjoyed myself" attitude kinda proves his heart and soul isnt in fighting and winning.

Yeah..........But At The End Of The Day At Least He Enjoyed Himself. Which in Dave's mind counts for everything.
When he was saying that, bisping was really angry........lol

Agreed. Thats the main thing. Dave enjoyed himself out there.

I loved that. He just blew a massive opportunity for himself but he was sitting there with a massive smile saying "I really enjoyed that!"
I know how he felt though, when your air just disappears. It is horrible.

I'd love to fight in the UFC. I'd be distraught if I lost to a guy I know I'm better than. This shitty "oh well elast I tried" British attitude has to stop. Americans dominate sporting contests because of their competitiveness from an early age.

Or maybe because they have 300million people and a shit load of money to pump into sports.
You really are an awful troll, your constant posts which are made to wind people up make it painfully obvious that you're trolling and i cringe when reading your posts. You're like a wanna-be Brawler4Life only worse.

I guess your attitude to winning is much better? Even though you won't even bother going to train anywhere....
Working hard until the point where you can't breathe any more is a bad experience, which being punched in the face a few more times would not help.
At least he can say he's been there and done it, more than most, and I would of enjoyed it too being able to fight on TUF.

While there is trolling here, he didn't have the desire you need to be successful in the UFC and while it's good he enjoyed himself, he did take the place of someone who might have given more to achieve a dream of competing at the highest level.

As long as no nasty receptionists get in your way and as long as it doesn't involve public transport, you'd do anything to get there.

Do it may have been a joke little disrepecfull to the warrior there mate. Dave had a great fight in the TUF, one of the best ever in The Ultimate Fighter history in my opinion.
And do he lost going out on his shield, he really enjoyed himself, which like most said is the main thing.

To be onest mate, I just think people thought you were a bit disrepcfull about the warrior. Like I said Dave was invovled in one of the best if not the best fight in Ultimate Fighter's history, and he went on his shield and like I said before the main thing is he enjoyed it.
I also thought Bisping was a little hard on him after the fight in the locker room, when the man had just been invovled a war. Bisping was looking at him like shit and then took the lads outside and said to them dave's a quitter.

Mike probably took that harder as he thought Dave would have made it with ease... of course he is gonna be dissappointed, they are(were) stable mates at the Wolfslair, that is an achievement in itself for Dave.
Dont know the guy personally but think he was pretty much one of the best competitors in the house after he got over his initial nerves and that bloody gag reflex :(
The no air thing is a bloody nightmare, training at altitude or in a different climate will do that to even the fittest of people.

for once i agree with everything ben hutch says.
At the end of the day, Dave seems pretty grounded from the post i've read of his on here. I'm sure looking back he'll have some regret there. But there, in that cage, in that moment, it all got a bit too much for him. It's a feeling very few on here would be familiar with, especially someone who couldn't get past the woman on the phones, let alone a sparring session.

It's great that he enjoyed himself, but if he was gonna give up he shoulda done it somewhere else, coz the way i see it, he cost one of the uk guys a second opportunity to compete in TUF.

I reckon it was that hypnotherapist. Got him into a relaxed state so he doesn't gag on his mouthpiece but I reckon it affected his ability to perform and be aggressive (maybe).

The guy gets my respect for even getting to the house. Yeah he may have quit and blew his chance but he got there and many others didn't.
good luck to him for his future endeavours. maybe it showed that fighting wasn't for him and if he does continue to fight then he should see it as a kick in the ass and come back stronger.
look at Martin Stapleton. out of the house and now the strike and submit lightweight champ. congrats to him as well.

good to hear. hopefully dave can be back in the ufc in no time, but i think he deserves a rest after that brutal fight in the house. after the rest how about the warrior vs matt brown or even maybe marcus davis?. maybe at ufc 104?

Just a few words from me (Dave Faulkner, just incase you didn't know).
I am amazed at the shit that goes on in peoples heads!
What people need to know about me is-
That my attitude towards MMA is not as intense or macho as everyone else's. I used to love the sport when when I first started fighting in 2002 when nobody knew what "Vale Tudo" was but the arsehole attitude (eg White Tyson) that is rife in MMA today is what has killed it for me. So on the MMA front I could take it or leave it (I would like to be an Olympian in Judo/Wrestling first and foremost) and that was evident in the show. Another point, I don't need to be aggressive before, during or after fights as I have total confidence in my abilities. Also, I don't feel I blew any chance as (and this seriously needs to be put to bed) I was stopped by illness and nothing else and again I know I have enough skills to do whatever I want in MMA.
So I am NOT retired and even though I have competed in multiple combat sports since I was 14yrs old I feel I have not even started in MMA!
In which my record is actually 7-2-0 4KO's 1 Sub (shockingly)
Finally I thank all the good folk who supported me and more importantly understood me, but naysayers beware as I don't spend most of my time wanking with one hand and typing delusional tripe on Cage warriors forum with the other, I train hard with big scary men and if I (by chance) bump into you I will show you why I was the favorite (my team said it not me) to win TUF 9 (Big Brother in a Cage)!

What was the illness ? Don't remember it being talked about on the programme.
The thing that's surprising to me is that Bisping would have slated you like that to the other lads following the fight knowing you only stopped due to illness. interested to know how that came about.

Everyone has reasons of their own why they do things, and that is up to them, as long as they enjoy what they do and aren't forced into something, fair play, follow your heart and make yourself happy...
I know one thing for sure, the Wolfslair has a huge assett in Faulkner regarding training for fights, his grappling is sublime. whatever he decides to do, best of luck to him!
Some interesting views posted.
I'm no where near the level of........most poeple on here and not within a mile of Dave Faulkner but i never walk away from competion, thats kinda defeats the point of competing doesn't it?? Be it a win or loss, first or last i always aim to finish. If i can't finish(injury/health reasons) then i certainly wouldn't say ive had fun and i'm happy with what ive done, i'd be pissed that i hadn't done what i wanted and trained to do. I thought everybody who competed had the same attitude, obvioulsy not.

In reply to somebody asking what the illness was and why Mike slated me...
I knew before the fight that I was not 100% as I had MRSA in my leg and was on a shit load of antibiotics which give me slight flu like symptoms. I was not too arsed as I thought I would just conserve my energy more than usual (hence not much wrestling during). In round 2 I could not get enough air, you would not understand how bad it was (I mean virtually baby sized breaths then nothing) hence the end of the fight. I originally put it down to to how I was feeling on the medication, coupled with altitude, dry air and all that crap. That night after all was said (by Mike) and done I went to the Doc's for a chest x-ray as I developed a (bad smokers) cough about an hour after the bout. The doc told me that my left lung had seized during the fight, in his own words "it crunched up like a bag of potato chips". The cause of that was Bronchitis and other shit that was in my system. Once Mike found out (about four days later) he apologised for his manner with me as did Dave Jackson (Thai Coach) who would not believe how bad the situation was in that fight!
People are also saying that I could not have been that bad as I picked Frank up at the end of the fight. In reality it was about 20 mins after the fight doctor had seen to me!!!
The "I enjoyed myself" remark came from the fact that I just had a shit bit of luck so looking at the positives I said it (anyone who knows me knows what I am like). I have always had my wrestling to fall back on in a fight and have been gun shy in MMA bouts because of this and the fact that I had to keep it on the feet and was ok with that was one big personal Demons conquered.
Just a few facts for some people, If you can't breathe you can't fight and if your one of your lungs don't work then you can't breathe...does this make any sense!? So all this talk about "heart" is obsolete, it was more of me not having the "lungs" on that day!
Everyone needs to stop watching the Rocky anthology as it is giving you a warped out look of how fighting really is...
Now is this gonna get put to bed now!?
If you still question my "heart" just PM me and I will send you some footage of my fights with opponents who would have slaughtered most of the cast of TUF 9, then watch the fight with Frank again, realise I may be telling the truth and then shut the fuck up!!!

I'm no position to question a pro but you just said you 'used' to love the sport in 2002, 7 years ago.. and on the MMA front you could take it or leave it??
Don't take this as a criticism but why enter in the first place then? - If your not really that bothered about MMA (at least thats how I read your post) then why take a spot from someone who would give anything to enter. Are you talented? Absolutely, you can't doubt that. Are there guys who wanted it a lot more than you judging by that post? ^^ oh yes.

Fair point NeilD, I did not know about the trail for TUF 9 but my manager called me the night before and told me I was going down to it thinking there was no way I was gonna get in. They picked me at the end of the day but I still deserved to be there regardless of how much somebody else wanted it.
Kainer, that is a pro record, one of the losses was to a DQ to Dean Amo but that was under B class pro so I don't know if that classifies but it's in there anyway. Some one put a link to sherdog with my record to prove what exactly, that they copied MMA Universe in getting my record wrong!? I have contacted MMA Universe on multiple occasions to sort my record out but it became more obscure (and spelled my name wrong)!?
I have no reason to lie about my record I mean I could do a Gracie ad all my wrestling, Judo, Sub and Thai fights together....312-4-0 how about that (just for the angry people out there I typed this last bit for fun)

For the record this is a pic I took of the front of Daves shin (not his knee) in the house shortly before he fought. He did have MRSA in the infection and was being treated with strong antibiotics.
I personally thought that he also had cellulitis in the leg as well

Fair point NeilD, I did not know about the trail for TUF 9 but my manager called me the night before and told me I was going down to it thinking there was no way I was gonna get in. They picked me at the end of the day but I still deserved to be there regardless of how much somebody else wanted it.
Kainer, that is a pro record, one of the losses was to a DQ to Dean Amo but that was under B class pro so I don't know if that classifies but it's in there anyway. if you had that many thai fights surly u would be used to wearing a gum shield :P....
anyway mate on a more serious side, you dont need to explain yourself to anyone, do what is right for yourself and the pieces will all fall into place around that. I hope to see you on the big stage at some point.

Ive had Cellulitis in my leg 5 times now and it sucks.ive been in hospital for a week with it the first time and had about 6 months off of work total due it which is shit so i know those types of infection can fuck you up not just phsically but mentally to.
Good luck with whatever you do in the future Dave.

Dave, you don't need to explain yourself on here mate. Those that care don't matter, and those that matter don't care.
You've great skills and a great attitude. Good luck in the future stuff.
Stick in mate.
