it looks pritty grim on the uk scene, i think the only way u can make decent money is if ur a good ticket seller now

Hasn't that always been the way ?
Unless you are mates with the promoter, have good representation or are just very good

Having enquired about some fighters they dont all make bad money. But then its the same as everything in life, you get what you pay for.

I think most fighters start from about £750 purse, cage warriors, pro kumite and the like pay this, then maybe your average guy gets about £1200ish, depending on record, top guys start at £2000.. hope this helps

Yeah, it looks alright for a few minutes work (in-ring time) but when you look at a guy earning 2k for a fight....that he's typically trained 6 weeks for, whilst having to potentially cut down work hours in his day job to fit in the additional training....it's probably the same as if he'd stayed working full time

Most promotions can not afford to pay top dollar as there are no real investors in UK mma.
Sponsorship e.t.c is hard to come by especially in todays climate.

The only reason there is amateur mma today is because a few years back some promoter said to himself, "How can I make as much money as possible? I know, I won't pay the fighters and call them amateurs."
Amateur mma is stupid in it's current form.

There are many different purse structures that I know of, high purse and 10% of ticket sales, or a low purse and a ticket sold break incentive is one show that does it different.
Basic purse structures like Pro kumite black and white for everybody to see on a structured progressive level, we also give 20% of all ticket sales. (example we pay £80 for a very first timer, and 20% ticket com', we had one guy the show before last who had that £80 purse and also made £548 in ticket sales so he earned £628 for a 1st time fight.
Most shows that I know of offer 20% ticket com or a standard £5 per ticket
As Kaizer said and this has been said so many times before, unless the UK has a mass influx of major sponsorship then Promoters are going to be tied to how much they can pay to make a show work. The incentive to fighters to make good good money is to sell tickets.
Its all about the ticket sales, if you want to earn good money in the current climate in the UK you have to either be top of the tree or sell tickets, and to be fair if fighters dont sell tickets, the the show wont last long.

Does BJJ have strikes?
Only Gracie JiuJitsu!
all seriousness, not enough but that said, if fans dont turn up to support events, then the promoters cant pay them the kind of money they deserve. its swings and roundabouts and in this vicious circle its hard to improve at the moment as the economy is fucked and shows are dropping like flies. this means more fighters for less shows and some (not implying anyone) can barter to pay less in a flooded market.

I wonder how much fighters think they deserve?
One of my concerns is that so few fighters develop in the amateur ranks, they chase the 'pro cage fighter' tag and get in pro after 3-4 Am/sp fights. They then expect to get paid a packet for it! Let's face it, most of them are STILL amateurs. They aren't skilled or experienced enough to be paid like professionals.
If the product is low quality, then the pay reflects that. Unfortunately that impacts on the guys who do have a quality product... no one wins!

UK MMA is very much a "zero sum game" at times and this is yet anotehr example of it.
Fighters (mostly) do deserve more than they get, however promotions don't make the money needed to do that (especally if they put on a good show and have costs elsewhere)

That is true, i would be suprised if many fighters who get paid actually make any money from it.
