Dip belt

Can anyone tell me if a dip belt can be used for doing pull ups? i was under the impression it could but wanted to check before i purchase one,

cheers, i did think so but couldnt remember seeing anyone ever use it for doing pull ups in the gym, so i suppose as money is a bit tight i thought id double check.

Iv just been looking at powerhouse fitness, ebay, and sports equipment supplier i suppose will sell them
