It's apparently a fairly easy language to pick up, and at least I'd understand a bit more of what's getting said at my classes.

The classes are mostly in English but sometimes certain people can't help but start speaking in Portuguese. For all I know they could be talking about last nights episode of Corrie, but what if they're trying to keep the best moves for themselves?

Why wouldn't being able to know what's being said not help?

more the fact you're at a club where the sharing of techniques isn't free and unhindered.

call them a filho da puta and leave

It doesn't hppen too often and I don't get the impression that they're trying to hide anything, they just sometimes speak their own language without thinking, I think.

Do you speak Portuguese? You must have had to learn a bit in Brazil?
