How much does it cost to get licenses up and running etc.?
Then what are the costs for venues and paying fighters.
Cage Rage was fucking shit. Everything about it sucked. The 2 bald dudes that looked like Eastend gangsters were hosting their show and the announcer had that stupid annoying gravel-like voice that made me want to go kill a baby whenever I heard it.
Also...one of the commentators really pissed me off and couldnt string a sentence together properly. The other commentator was good though. Then they brought that annoying American in.
I have better ideas than those guys. Talk to me people.

As much as the two baldies were annoying and the announcer seeming like a pikey, Cage Rage did get alot of good fights going.
I guess the only thing I'd agree with you on is the annoying american, I was watching cage rage the other day on extreme channel or whatever, cant remember the exact fight but I think it was Tom Watson (Kong) vs some guy, good striker apparently. Watched a little bit of it and I heard the american commentator say that Tom didnt want to stand up with the other guy because he had so much power he would break Toms arm with a punch.
Now unless Tom suffers from some brittle bone disorder or has no calcium intake at all throughout his life I just do not ever see that happening and even if its slightly possible I found it a stupid fucking thing to say, the guy talks shit all the time dont know why he was even commentating.
An event will cost a FORTUNE. Well I guess that depends on the quality you'd be looking for.

Dont you think Cage Rage just seemed so "Chav"-like?
I mean...I know thats how you build your fanbase. Similar to how the UFC built theres on beer drinking red necks...but eventually you have to evolve the product and make it media friendly. I know they got a deal with Nuts and then they hooked up with Sky sports but thats when they should have started to change the production up.
Everything about its promotion just seemed so cheap and sleezey!!!

Yeah, it's not like Cage Rage ever had Anderson Silva, Michael Bisping, Vitor Ribeiro, Jean Silva, Masakazu Imanari, Vitor Belfort, Lee Murray, Antonio Silva or anyone like that.
Cage Rage were great up until the yanks got their grubby mitts on the promotion and ruined it!

You need gangsters, lots of them.
You need to submit article 1(a) and Article 3(d) to the UK Governing body. Which is the Promoter's license. Once approved your can apply for Article 2(b) and Article3(j) which are matchmaker and insurance licenses

Cage Rage was poorly presented in my opinion. Some great fighters, but they tried to go for an underground plastic gangster feel, which was pathetic. Real dunk meathead style.
The next big promotion in the UK will be one that showcases its fighters abilities as the athletes they are, it needs to be presented with the same professionalism as premiership football, to get away from the negative thug stereotype it still has in the mainstream. Cage Rage did nothing to help this image.

yeh i thought it was a shame that cage gladiators went down as their approach was alot more professional and much prefered watching their shows. however cage rage did put on some awesome fights

Yeah, the high class chavs only went to Cage Warriors events.

lol, "Lower class chavs"... Didn't know chavs had their own class system within themselves now.
Cage Rage certainly did put on some amazing fights, and seemed to be able to get high profile fighters on there who have gone on to do HUGE things, Manhoef being a star in Japan, Silva becoming UFC champ.
However, I do feel that the way it marketed itself was not a good business model. It was presented in a rather unprofessional way, things like the production values, commentator and ring announcer detracted from an essentially good product.
In a way it did appeal to those who saw MMA as a blood-lust sport, which is never going to appeal to a mainstream TV audience.
Another thing is that Cage Rage didn't seem to be very innovative in the way it did things: poor website and not much cross-media content, i.e. Youtube, fighter profiles, etc.
'Fighting Hurts' kind of encapsulated the approach of Cage Rage for me.

I dont disagree with you on your view of the announcer but just for the record I did see someone´s arm being broken by punches before.
Forest Griffin got his arm snapped getting punched by Edson Paredão here at Heat FC in Brazil.
Cage Rage had its faults but it is still the biggest and most successful UK based MMA event series. Good luck with topping that.

didnt you start a thread a few days ago apologising for personally abusing other posters?
in this thread alone you've ripped into what was a decent set up and cunted off decent mma people who worked hard for the sport, you've talked utter bollox then when pulled up on it you get personal (as usual).
not sure why you're even enquiring about starting a promotion, you couldnt even deal with a rude secretary at a gym's front desk, how to you expect to deal with needy and demanding fighters, agents, promoters, media, sponsors etc.

it'd be interesting where white tyson would get in the uk mma world.
i'd say he's alienated quite a few fights/promoters/fans just from posting on this forum alone.

step one in setting up a high quality event is to have very very deep pockets and expect to loose a shit load of money on your 1st couple / few events.
if you disagree just ask anyone at cage warriors, FX3 or Prokumite !!!

Yeah Cage Rage had problems, however they already had the hardcore fan interested in watching for the fights themselves. To attract the casual punter you need to appeal to the violence & the brutal spectacle of "cage-fighting" & as much as we might have hated it the dancing strippers & cockney-gangster side of it was their way of doing it.
Cage Gladiators put on a far more professional TV show presenting MMA as a sport competed by athletes & look how long that lasted.
