just want to check if my avatar came up.

like mine? kind of Hulk-sih but i did it myself. its a bit gay the rules on the Avs tho, 60x60 or 22k, whichever is smaller. doesn't give a lot of scope.

The reason its like that is quite simple.
If everyone had say 10k images. You get some poor 56k user, he reads a thread with 20 different people on it..
You can see the problem.
Also if they are too big it would screw up the layout of the forum. The difference is other forums will just resize the avatar to the size they request, but keep the filesize. Which is very nice and all, but it means you need to host the file and places like geocities wont allow you to view images outwit a website hosted on theirs
(thats why in ezboard etc you will see scrunched up crap as a avatar or just a x)
So we actually host the avatars ourselves (they get uploaded auto). So then you have bandwidth and space issues.
There you go.. long winded... like it or lump it ...Its not changing speech :p :shoot: :woo
(i might be persuaded to bump it up a little though. If you can make a avatar thats low in size and not too big ill set the limits to that)

not bitchin too much, i like the way we can do stuff and then upload it, so i'm playing with photoshop as we speak to see what i can come up with. anyone got any tips for animating gifs?

Ill bump up the dimensions if you guys want.
But wont be too much bigger due to the speel above LOL
The best way to make a animated gif imo is to use imageready.
If you have photoshop, you should have this installed.
Search through your start menu.
In there you will see animation, roll over stuff and whats not.
Goto animation create a new box and play with the visable layers. That way you can pick whats on each frame.
There is a good help guide with imageready too.

Ive bumped up the max size allowed to 100 pixles by 100 pixles
(nearly double what it was)
Hope it gives you guys a bit more scope :chinese:

Mine is 100 x 100 but not nearly as big as Dr Octagons, what has he done to make his bigger? I know you can somehow hack forums do this but dont think he would have bothered with that.

Actually I think I am being thick, mine looks as high just his is wider. Will have to look for a more square shape one me thinks.
