I am starting to run in the morning for fitness and was just wondering whether its better to have breakfast before or after the run?

for pure fitness? eat
for fitness and weight loss don't eat or have a small protein shake
As a fitness professional ( I love saying that, it makes me sound important:p )
I'd always recommend having something to eat before any bout of exercise, especially first thing in the morning.
There are benefits to not eating before morning exercise, but the fact your looking to run for fitness and not weight loss rules out any major benfits that this would give you.
As Jim said, your better off having a quick bite and at least 1 glass of water before your run, and then having a propa breakfast when you get back!

Yep i have to have about 3-4 hours after a big meal or about 1 hour after a snack before i can run without pukking:o
If its a morning run you really should have something... just a snack as soon as you get up in order to fire up your bodies metabolism ready for a workout. You'll also need to do this in order to fuel your body otherwise it'll dive straight into glycogen stores and you be knackered before youve even got going:(

running on the night ftw.
I used to do that when I had insomnia. Feels great!

If you're not running to lose body fat i would have something small like a couple of oatcakes and glass of water. I also sip an electrolyte drink whilst running.

i can not run in the mornings weather i eeat or not, for some reason i just cant get used to it. i have to have about an hour of just sitting there to properly wake up before i can even muster the strength to make my breakfast. my favourite is to sit in a red hot shower to warm my body up before i do anything at all on a morn. tbh i like to run at around the time i think ill be fighting, or directly after training since it means my body has been active for an hour or so and alreeady in the fat burning zone by the time i start my steady state cardio. i find this works well for me.
