Fighting for Heroes
5th DECEMBER 2009
Christmas will come early this year as we put on, arguably our strongest card of the year and end 2009 in spectacular UC MMA fashion. With all our dates set for next year, this show will bring the curtain down on what has been a memorable year and will feature the finals for all 6 weight divisions in the much vaunted Grand Prix competition. This card will feature a total of 4 additional title fights including the Heavyweight, Light heavyweight and Lightweight UC MMA belts and a much anticipated UC MMA UK1 Welterweight Title bout.
Karlos Vemola V Neil Grove
In what is the most eagerly anticipated Heavyweight bout of the year, Karlos Vemola, The current CFC Heavyweight Champion will take on the current UC MMA Heavyweight Champion, Neil Grove. This promises to be a collision between two of the most highly respected Heavyweights in the UK. Neil Grove is coming off the back of a devastating win over his last opponent in 53 seconds and will be looking to make another powerful statement and retain his belt. Karlos, who already holds one belt, will be looking to take Grove’s title in spectacular fashion with his powerful and uncompromising style. This has all the makings of an explosive encounter and thoroughly deserves top billing.
Shaun Lomas V Jimi Manuwa
This will be an intriguing contest between two very different fighters. This fight only came about after Shaun Lomas disrespected Manuwa in the changing rooms after his win over Luke Blyth. Lomas taunted Manuwa suggesting he would not be able to stand with someone who had his knockout power. Lomas comes from a kickboxing / Boxing background and will be looking to build on a credible win over Jamie Hearn in his last UC MMA outing. Manuwa will be looking to make his 2nd title defence after his devastating knockout of the game Luke Blyth and extend his formidable win record. This will be a blink and you will miss it encounter and a fight not to be missed.
Tam Khan V Jack Mason
The match for the Grand Prix Middleweight Title will pit 2 of the most powerful middleweights in the UK against each other. Both Khan and Mason have an incredible ground game with both fighters preferring to take the fight on to the canvas. Khan comes of the back of a convincing win against Ben Craggy with a text book guillotine, while Mason defeated the game Shah Hussain. This will be an explosive and bruising encounter and should prove to be an evenly balanced fight.
Michael Pastou V Francis Heagney
After capturing the Lightweight Title, Francis Heagney prepares to make his first defence of his title against Team Titan fighter, Michael Pastou. Heagney won the title after a fantastic performance against Nova Forca’s Tim Radcliffe in a fight that was a must see for the MMA purists. Pastou has dropped down a weight division from Welterweight and has trained hard and will pose a serious threat to Heagney attempt to take back another title to the successful Team Titan Gym. This has all the makings of being another Lightweight bout that you will not be able to take your eyes off.

Luke Smith V Wesley Johnson
Earl Brown V Karl Lawrence

Michael Pastou was a massive WW, it's crazy he has managed to cut the weight, but I have seen him do it and this will be an awesome fight.
Luke Smith to win via crazy triangle from obscure angle
Mark Adams is my new fave fighter at FW (apart from the obvious) a win here will put him right up there near the top of the ranks.

fucking awesome card, seriously can't wait for this. some really interesting fights and an incredible heavyweight main event. Karlos sounds brilliant - and definitely looks the part! But as Grove showed, he's got the Paul-McKenna-ability to put people out. fireworks lol

i was just sayin whys that gonna b his 1st fight at lightweight? because its a big fight fighting francis 4 the title, he has never fought at lightweight b4 wouldn't a warm up fight help? coz he must b doing a massive cut coz he was pretty big 4 welterweight the cut 2 light could effect his performance thats all.
i hav had boxing bouts n kickboxing bouts b4 & uk1 is pretty similar, i would of been just as happy with a normal uk1 fight but the title was vacant so it was like a bonus 2 fight 4 it.

I guess thats up to the promoter and the fighter. if they are both happy with it then thats all that matters im sure, like I said, no one questioned why you was fighting for a title fight coming off a loss.
And im sure Michael is well aware how big a fight francis is, as he played a big part in preparing Jason Young for his title fight against Francis last year.
