Just wondering if anyone has used one of these as part of their conditioning? A friend mentioned it to me, sounds like a good idea not having gears to make it easy to get up hills n stuff! Anyone got any experience?

try going up a steep hill (southfields hill from past experience) on a BMX, burns like hell.

Single speed might be the opposite of 'make it easy to get up hills n stuff!'

I have a single speed bike, you just have to plan your route to avoid any seriously steep hills.

mine is targeted as a commuter bike. the gearing is quite good but you would struggle with steep hills. I have the carrera 8 , a couple of times a week i do a 14k cycle

I've got a single speed bike. It was great in Manchester as there's hardly any hills. It's a lot tougher riding it in Newcastle! Ride it everywhere.
