i'll do the grown up thing and treat this with a sensible answer (aren't i nice :) ).

keep it simple, don't start it up thinking you're going to take on the world immediately.
find a gym you like, that's feesible. you don't want a gym you hate going to.

the trainers at the gym will teach you the basics and you learn from there.
you can take what you learn and practice it at home (don't be daft and start choking out your mates), i mean practice movement, flexibility, technique etc.

find some external forms of exercise, join a gym or just do running at home, push ups, sit ups etc.

if you find a gym you enjoy you'll take to it like a duck to water - if it's what you really want.

work out what it is you want. do you have the aim of eventually fighting? doing it for fun? just for fitness? the tailor your training to meet your goals.
i started out doing it purely for fitness and enjoyment (far more enjoyable than running on a treadmill) but got hooked and started to get serious having decided i wanted to fight (something i never planned on initially).
i was out of shape and tentative to join in at first, it's something i've always loved to one day took the leap and loved it ever since, my gyms now a major part of my life and mma training is great fun, fitness and a test.

i can't suggest any good gyms in that area, but i'm sure someone on here can.
