Do you think Bisping would get the reception he does in England if he was fighting up in Scotland?

i think he would, ive been to ufc's in manchester, london and newcastle and im always amazed at how many scottish people we bump into, most support all the english/british fighters.

Oh good, that's the way it should be.

In Dublin (I know its not Britain) Hathaway got boo'd really badly against Egan which was pretty lame to see. Then again, Egan was the hometown boy and it was probably just in reaction to being his opponent.

Might be different if it was a scottish fighter v an english fighter though, but thats a long way off imo.

well i think that it was partly due to Egan being a hometown lad and also the lay people in ireland are quite anti british in alot of ways...but i dont think there was any harm meant against hathaway, i was there, people just got a bit over excited!

I think bisping would get a good reception anywere in the uk, people in mma seem to forget their regional/cultural differences which is good!

Who do you think might be the best hope for a Scotish fighter in the UFC (most of the fighters I know are below the 70k division, so UFC isn't an option)

Graham Turner at LW, 21 yrs old 13-5-1 pro record, Just started training like a pro in the last 6 months, most of his record was built on him training 3 times a week around work and playing football. His age is his best quality kids super keen to improve and fight the best and he has tons of tim and good people around him

Alan Love at MW 6-0 will definatley make an impression on the UK scene nxt year, successful in BJJ comps and thai fights this year as well, ever improving and the gamest fighter in scotland.

John Quinn 7-0 WW been awesome this year again, will be dropping down to LW next year and should make an impact on the uk scene. Super well rounded, really intelligent and disciplined fighter who should be on more peoples radars but his quiet nature means he isnt as well known as he should be.

Other than that me and paul when our steriods arrive.

It would be a massive achievment, seeing a Scottish fighter in the Octagon. Based on the recent events, if Dana brought the show to Glasgow or Edinburgh, then I think Alan or John would stand a big chance at getting a fight.

Graham sounds like a prospect for the future.

If the gear doesn't turn up, try tablet and Tunnocks..... Mark Conner appeared to be trying it!

Mark Connor is indeed a physical specimen. Il give the gear another few days, might be caught in xmas post, failing that il break into Marks locker nick his supplys of tunnocks and inject the lot

ufc in breahead arena sounds a great shout! In Scotland as far as people I have met goes, Bisping, Hardy etc are peoples favourite fighters...so no-anti-english stuff as far as mma goes yet... perhaps if an mma world cup started there may be some.

id love to see it in Scotland, travelled to Manchester before i was on this forum so would be cool to travel to another and see who i seen. The only place i could imagine a UFC in Scotland would be the SECC or Braehead but they are too small.

Id shout for alot of the english fighters, nationality doesnt matter in the cage

Braehead arena would be a fantastic venue.
I judged there a couple of years back and the venue looks to be the absolute perfect size for a Show like the UFC.
I'd love for someone like John Quinn to get into the UFC. I've been a fan of his for some time now and every time I've seen him fight, he's just gotten better and better.

Sadly Weig, I can remember a while back, Dana White saying he would love to stage a show in scotland, but there are no arenas big enough, and that included B-head and the Secc dude... Someone correct me if im wrong, think it may have been 2 years ago!

Also think it would be the best chance for some of our own Scottish guys getting on the big show, with a UFC being in Scotkand, heres hoping something gets sorted... maybe have to wait a few years dude till the commonwealthgames, Im not sure if anything is being built to be honest mate

I would cheer them the same as any other fighter I liked... maybe a bit more because there would be a general buzz about the arena as a 'local boy' is fighting, but honestly, England might as well be France to me, so I've no specific interest in whether and Englishman wins or loses.

I wouldn't be up cheering their loss like I would in any of their team-sports anyway.

latest edition of mmaunltd magazine (i think) mentions UFC Fight Night and WEC coming to the UK with possibility of shows in Scotland and Wales

I've been to a few of the UFCs in England with my mates and we have always cheered on the English fighters. There isn't really any rivalry there compared to other sports like football. As someone mentioned above, an English fighter against a Scottish guy might be a bit different :D

A UFC/fight night/WEC event up here would be awesome, especially if it had some Scottish guys on it.
