i recently seperated a rib and was wondering wat excersises i can do to strengthen the muscles around the rib cage, a wanna avoid it happening again!

not sure it would reeally help mate. There arent really muscles protecting the rib attachments (like there are the knee joint for example). The intercostal muscles (betweent the ribs) are only really used for breathing (not useful for injury prevention) and other muscles attached to the ribs (eg. lats, pecs, serratus anterior) also wont prevent this kind of injury.
My advice would be to rest it well. Improving your core strength might help a bit (I have no evidence for this, but it might do some good).

There is an exercise called sarratus crunches. Give it a google. Also,bent arm Pullovers which you can also google.
