If the laws weren't so tough and it was legal to use a blade in self defense, would you carry a knife incase you get in some bother when out?

When I worked the doors (up til October last year) I had on me, at all times, a 6" locking blade. I never considered using it, but with the "trend" of doormen getting jumped on their way home from work (and a couple of poor bastards being killed) I was prepared to take a few down with me

If people were allowed to carry knives I would get myself a stab vest to wear everytime I went outside, also a pair of those knife proof gloves that have padding on the knuckles with lead shot packed on the outside so when you clench your fist it compacts and helps break faces better when you hit.
A ton more people would be dying all the time imo, everytime there is a confrontation anywhere at anytime there would be a big chance that everyone would end up pulling knives out lol.

not around town on normal business, if the police think that the item is going to be used for anything other than it's intended use it's possession of a deadly weapon, whether they'd take it to court or not is a different matter but i wouldn't advise it.

here I go with my good old stats but it is a proven statistic that people who carry blades are more than likely gonna end up stabbed with their own blade, (no im not just repeating that advert off galaxy radio) check home office statitics on it, cant remember the exact figure but its pretty high, its also worth noting that carrying a knife will only result in 1 of 4 outcomes; murder - you murder someone (prison), death - you end up murdered, maimed - you or the other chap (someone goes to prison there too) or prison (prison).
Its a pretty twisted idea at the thought of carrying a blade with you to be honest and the idea that a knife can be used in "defence" is also a joke. oh IMO

I second the idea of a stab proof vest and the bladerunner gloves. I think I can remember a tutorial somewhere on how to make your own stab proof vest. Ill have a look for it when I can be arsed.

I'm not sure how well making your own would work, there is loads of stuff about cheap gear not offering proper protection. The gloves are good but they're not cheap

You can buy types of stab proof vests off the internet, not exactly cheap but still. Also, you can make your own stab proof vest out of folded newspapers, you could layer it like mail so there is no gaps :D. Though it probably wouldnt be too comfortable.

i have been stopped b4 by the police and had a lock knife in my possesion (was in my backpack) i was told that because it wasnt in my pocket there was nothing he cld do apart from confescate it (which he didnt) all i said was that i forgot to take it out of my bag last time i went fishing.
on the subject of self defence what about those extenable batons the flick out ones the police use are they legal to carry as i wld gladly use one of them if a guy attacked me with a knife a quick smack on there arm holding the knife and they wld more than likely end up droping it and it wld be less leathel ( a broken arm as appossed to a slashed vein etc) whats everyones veiws on this?
i only say because if u punched someone in the head with lead knuckled gloves u cld do major damage and there bordering on knuckle dusters

I wear mine in the cold and just treat them like normal gloves.
