I wasn't that impressed with it.

Morgan Freeman is not good as Nelson Mandela and does not even sound South African. In fact, I would say it was a terrible miscasting.

Matt Damon is way too small to be Francois Piennaar and again struggles with the accent (but not as much as Freeman).

The film is very dumbed down at times, explaining very obvious things. For example, The Springboks win a match, the crowd is cheering, the scoreboard says they have won, and one Black security guard says to a White one "What happened?", to which the White one replies "We won". It is clear this is put in so that non-rugby fans can follow it. However, you would have to be braindead not to understand what just happened. It does things like this all the way through to ensure the audience can follow the sport, but it goes over the top in explaining things and treats the audience as if they are dumb.

As a South African I saw this as an attempt to highlight the massive cultural divide between White and Black South Africans created during the Apartheid era...it still wasn't very well portrayed though..
