Hey,
does anybody know of any boxing promoters etc in the midlands or north who are strongly against MMA? People that are possibly easily approachable?
Thanks

Maybe he is just writing an essay and needs two sides?

You could try Kirklees council, they have many boxing events and banned MMA. Barry McGuigan is the head of the PBA and he is strongly against MMA for obvious reasons. Boxing promoters like Warren might be harder to get in touch with

Cos they're worried it'll impact on boxing revenue.

moaning about fighting on the floor?! Its tough to learn a decent ground game let alone have a good ground game. Jesus i never thought MMA was looked down upon by other styles like this (not saying everyone who does paticular styles does though).

barry is a legend

Bisping read a quote from mcguigan in a newspaper along the lines of:

*No skill in MMA
*No fitness compared to boxing (3x 5min rds vs 12x 3min rds)
*Thugs
*Unsportsman (fighting on floor)
*Whole host of other shite

He answered his comments on a net blog for a newspaper on the run up to his first UK fight. Basically invited him nicely down to train & have a day with the guys from the gym.

Barry never replied to his invitation.

Lets face it, i love boxing but while its not finished, the UFC & MMA are getting bigger & bigger. Most MMA fans woulda enjoyed boxing before MMA exposure, for some reason there are fans of boxong who didnt take to it.

Instead of live & let live, these fans need to say stupid things re: our sport, important figures in boxing throw in their 2 bob every time they feel like it. Its a selction of boxing fans & pundits that feel the need to be down on MMA.

Heres a challenge for boxing vs MMA:

Both put on the strongest card they can. Have the show at the same time, same city & on PPV. See who comes out on top with gates & PPV numbers.

Gimmie a better boxing card than:

MAIN CARD
HW Championship: Lesnar vs Velasquez
LHW Championship: Machida vs Shogun II
MW Championship: Silva vs Maia
WW Championship: GSP vs Hardy
LW Championship: Penn vs Edgar

PRELIMINARY CARD
Mir vs Carwin
Rampage vs Evans
Sonnen vs Belfort
Daley vs Koscheck
Florian vs Gomi

For safety comparrison, count the number of head shots landed & the number of knock downs from head strikes, the number of unanswered strikes leading to a tko/ko stoppage.

see which sport is deemed more dangerous then.
