Who has the best ground in pound? Which fight do you think had the best GnP in any organisation at any level, any links?

Il go first with GSP vs Penn II, just sticks out as a masterclass for me!

That was the first fight that came into my mind as I read this. Kongo vs Mus should get an honorary mention for brutality, but Kongo isn't one of the best at it.

Tito in his heyday was a master of gnp from the guard.

fedor hands down

GSP has amazing control from inside the guard. Brock Lesnar did a good job in smashing Frank Mir's face up in the second fight.

Agreed, Fedor also obviously, I thought GSP's best display of GnP was against sherk. Diego also deserves a mention he smashed nick diaz from his guard amongst others he also destroyed ADCC european champion david bielkheden in a round with GnP.

I'd have to go with GSP on this one, he's a master at takedowns and controling his opponent on the ground.

Who is technically the best then? Is GnP from guard like fedor more effective than GSPs Pound and Pass style?? Bj penns style is very effective also he just unloads, eg UFC in newcastle vs Stevenson, that was awesome.

I'd say Fedor's got the best GnP by far n I reckon it's more exciting 2watch than GSP's 2

Brock and he will get better with every fight.

Tito due to him being able to brush aside most peoples guards with ease although he needs to get his great conditioning back to be effective for more than 1 round.

Lesnar must be the man just now, with Fedor right up there although his all round skills maybe take the focus off how good his gnp is.

Fedor no question.....

Just watch his fight against Heath Herring in Pride for a masterclass of GnP, and the resulting aftermath.....

Part 1:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYnih2JMZXs
Part 2:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK3vL9qHMRo&feature=related

I rest my case....

Definitely Fedor.

Jon Jones has some utterly brutal GnP but it obviosuly not effective

You know, really thinking about it, I don't think anybody is outstanding at it any more like they were just a few years ago and especially not like they were ten years ago.

In the SEG days of the UFC guys like Coleman, Frye, and Severn would take guys down and just pummel them into hamburger meat. Then a few years ago you had guys like Tito and Couture doing it on occasion, but they slowly took the pound part out of ground n pound and would work for decisions.

I guess the only guy that jumps out now is Brock Lesnar, but seeing as I've only seen him win one bout via GNP now, I think even he would fall into that grey area of part time pounder at best.

On the floor who would dominate fedor or brock?, brock vs mir was almost uncomfortable to watch!

Id say depends who got top position, cause they both are very effective on top but, lesnar hasnt been tested on his back while fedor has so id give the edge 2 fedor

brock's gnp looked devastating against mir yes, but mir got smashed by peda pano and others as well - his defence to gnp is non existent, so he's not a good example...

I'd say Fedor for shear destructiveness.
But for sweet technique probably GSP.
