Stupid question but say if you have the omoplata, and they roll forward to escape, if you roll forward with them, will it keep it back on?

Yep, you've got to roll very tight underneath yourself though, or you'll likely lose it. You don't snap anyone's arm trying it if they're already rolling.
Marcelo shows it on his 4th set if you're looking for the right way to do it.

its far easier for them to roll as they are on all 4's and you are on your back, it would be very hard for you to keep up with them unless you were very fast and practised, in which case why not spend the time practicing breaking down their posture and putting your arm across the back to prevent the roll instead.

You're not on your back unless you're crap at omoplatas...
Quite often I'll sit up to find them already half way through a forward roll. You can get your hand on their back (or their belt, in the gi) sufficient to stop them completing it (i.e. keeping them balanced on their shoulders), but you can't drag them back down to all fours, that's a good time to re-roll if you don't feel like just accepting the sweep.
You can also do it even if they've already rolled out, like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrj5hzYapIE

yes, but you have to get your own legs out of the way, and you MUST have tight control of their elbow

my bad, i assumed that one of the reasons his opponent was hitting the roll on him was because he was not sitting up quick enough.
the re-roll looks good.
man what a palaver! lol why not just go to bicep crush or spin mount much more high % imo

I think that, because they think they have escaped and they have a chance, high mount would be the best, well thats my opinion. And i agree with other people about taking the mount position. Ive never tried rolling aswell, would be quite awkward and imagine if it never worked lol.:(

Hamstisco, have a look online for the marcelo garcia omoplata videos (there are four in total). He covers all aspects of the position, including what to do if they roll out. You have a number of options from that position.
EDIT: i have tried the re-roll. It worked! possibly due to the element of surprise. You can also switch over to the other side to get the omoplata again (Hard to explain- it's in the MG vids).

Or you could omoplata them with their leg inside as well. That way they can't roll forward...
Not that I have ever been caught in a leg-in-omoplata, that would be retarded...

Thanks. But it's more a case of fighting a lot in a short period of time than being properly awesome. An awesome fighter would have a much better ratio of wins to losses. Still, fully expect that ratio to get worse in the next few months. ^_^
But this is off-topic! Back to thread!
Cheers, though. ^_-
