Would love to have seen these two re-match in their prime.

Shame it is never going to happen, Lennox wouldn't come out of retirement for £25 million and get his face smashed in.

And what makes you think he'll get HIS face smashed in..
Lennox Lewis was a really clever fighter and he would easily cut it with the top heavyweights nowadays.

But yes, he would never fight.. not even for a ridiculous amount of money.

why should lennox come out of retirement to beat someone he already stopped once.

Because he was losing the first fight before the cut. Although there is no point now, Lennox has put on some weight and is old. Vitali is nearing retirement himself.

Fedor was losing the arlovski fight, does andrei deserve a rematch?

"losing the fight before the cut". I believe the art of boxing is hitting, without getting hit. Now; Lennox may have been losing, but he opened up a big cut on his opponent - does that not make him better? Coming fron behind is just as important a trait as staying ahead, whether you like it or not is another matter.

He didn't beat Klitschko... He was 58-56 down on all 3 cards and won because of a shitty cut.

Yeah but its nothing to shout about, if anything I'd be upset at winning that way.

So... Getting cut means? Probably that klitschko got hit..? I would be happy to cause damage and a tko, unless of course boxing should only be won on points?

Take a look at this:

This is not a lucky cut, it is several cuts caused by a sustained pounding. I remember staying up late to watch the fight. Vitali started well but Lewis was pounding him in the last couple of rounds. If the fight hadn't have been stopped Vitali would have been knocked out or seriously damaged.

To say this victory is nothing to shout about is plain daft.

Fedor knocked Arlovski the fuck out, Lewis stopped Vitali on cuts while trailing badly on the scorecards.

Trailing badly?! He was at most 2 rounds down and dominating the rounds before it got stopped.

Clearly you didn't watch the fight and don't really understand how boxing is scored.

Scorecards are irrelevant in a fight that doesn't go the distance. Eubank was behind on the cards in his first fight with Benn, but he was clearly the main in charge from the mid point onwards.

Take aside the cuts, and you have two fighters who had taken heavy punishment and were exhausted after 6 rounds. The fight was completely in the balance; none but the most biased Klitschko fan would argue that Vitali would certainly have won without the cut, and if anything Lewis had landed the harder shots in the 5th and 6th.

Even at this point in his career, Vitali's career defining fight is a 6th round TKO loss to Lewis who was probably in his worst ever shape. Which kind of tells you all you need to know about the relative historical standing of both fighters.

lol at whinging that Lewis ONLY beat him because of a cut. Yeah, cuts that were inflicted by Lewis whooping his ass. The pic has been posted. If that fight had continued, Lewis would have won it in one way or another quite decisively.

Calling out retired boxers is fucking dumb. Lewis had a wicked career and went out on top. He also seems relatively unscathed considering the fights he's had. Why should he fight again? He is 45 and hasn't fought for 7 years... why call him out? lol

It gets him publicity though.

Lets be honest, thats what this is about and you can't really blame him. HW boxing is an absolute joke compared to how it used to be. I'm surprised they aren't still calling out Tyson!

Hit the nail on the head. Haye said this recently as well about Vitali. Lewis was out of shape and at the end of his career and yet still won this fight.

I just re-watched it and it gave us something we haven't had since with the HW's-a toe to toe tear-up. Vitali knows that this is what he is going to be remembered for. The only chance he has really of a legacy is beating Haye but many would question even that. What he should really do is face his brother. That would get some interest back! Wlad has already said he'd do it.

There is a difference between cuts and piecing someones face back together lennox was working him over in the last 2 rounds before the stoppage.
