I,ve been approached by a Mauy Thai promoter who would like me to stage a couple of Mauy thai full rules bouts in the Cage at Portsmouth, I personally think this is a great Idea & opportunity to forge an alliance with the Mauy Thai world as there art features quite heavilly in MMA, & would equally expand our audience base. what do you guys think?

not a bad idea, but i'd limit it to maybe one or two bouts at tops, with short rounds ie. 3 x 2min rounds. this'll keep the pace up and not fill the evening with stuff other than MMA (which is of course why we are going).

i do like the idea of cage kickboxing, especially if it is under full MT rules (elbows+knees, torws etc)

however, in return you must make this promoter promise that in return he will have a pro-MMA fight or 2 on one of his shows! its only fair that we get some exposure to a different crowd!

Sorry to piss on your parade, Dougie, but I've never been hot on the cage kickboxing/thai idea. Call me old fashioned ( call me anything you like except English...) but kick/thai belongs in a ring and the cage is our playground plus having seen a few kickboxing and boxing matches at a few events (not just yours), they've all lacked a little something especially following MMA bouts.
I'm real big on the K-1 Max at the moment and it is my roots but fuck 'em....especially as the technical standard of MMA bouts goes up I doubt the thai bouts you'll be offered will be of the same calibre.
Just my thoughts and if you don't like them you can shove them up your arse....

Cheers,
Paul.

No I appreciate your thoughts on the matter Paul Doc that,s why I run all these Ideas by you all, its like having my own little commitee, It does get lonely up here making all the decisions on my own, If it was,nt for the Cagewarriors hottie section diverting my attention then I might crack up, talking of which would you have any objections if I stick an inflatebal paddling pool in the middle of the cage & get the girls to do a bit of Jello wrestling to spice it up a bit????

well my 2 pence worth is....

Personally i don't think its a good idea to have a lot of Muay Thai or any other fights on an MMA card, especally on one of the "bigger" events. When i got to see a MMA show i wanna see MMA. However if their is a big Muay Thai base in Portsmouth, then i can see why you might be tempted to have a few Muay Thai fights.

Maybe 1 or 2 fights at the start of the card would be a good idea and they wont spoil vibe of the event, and it might get a few Muay Guys guys in there and maybe they will stay for the fun and see the light :D

Or how about getting the promoter to find a Muay Thai guy to fight full MMA rules.

There's a few ideas
