hey guys i have been doing alot of internet searching and books there seems to be so much mixed information about programme design and conditioning on the one hand you have the ross e type style fast short exsplosive not that much long distance running or what my coach advocates lots of running 5-6 times a week my style that i do at the moment is muay thai i notice a lot of muay thai practioners clock up the miles runnning but a few mates that do mma do more circuit based conditioning i guess different strokes for differnt fokes. my question to you , have you used the method of both and if so which did you find worked best?, yet again i know it comes down to the individual but im just curious to here some sucess storys or not so good.

cheers

Mike Boyle's book Advances in Functional Training would be an excellent place to start, only around £20 on Amazon.

To be honest it is more aimed at trainers and coaches, but its filled with amazing info that will help any athlete in training. It goes through everything from agility, speed, power, plyometrics, strength, mobility, stability, core and hip training, injury prevention, and cardio work.

I noticed a much bigger difference for my second fight (muay thai) compared to my 1st in the ring and during training. Main difference being that I was running sprint intervals and hill sprints. That's my tuppence worth anyway.
