UMA Open No Gi Groundfighting Champs on 1st May with Ladies Brackets and Absolute

Ladies, it would be great to see a good turnout for this No Gi Groundfighting Event, we were asked for more Weight Brackets for the Female Fighters, we have done that, and have also included a Free Absolute Division too.

The rest is now up to you to help support Events like ours and others that try and help grow the sport, especially for the Female Fighters...

• Junior Girls: U40kg – U50kg – U60kg – O60kg (15 and Under)

• Senior Women’s Weight Brackets (All Experience Levels): – U60kg – U70kg – U80kg – O80kg (16 and over)

• Women’s Absolute Division: Open Weight and all Experience Levels (Free Entry for and to the Qualified Fighters only). (16 and over)

Caz Tweedy U60kg - Leicester Shootfighters, as always is again the first female to register, infact she was the first full stop a couple of weeks ago, so lets see if we can get a decent ladies team for this No Gi Event...

No, the Lowest Weight Bracket for Women is U50kg here at the UMA Events, this and the other Weights were added based on feedback from the forums, especially from the Ladies etc, due to most Events only having two Brackets, i.e. U60kg and O60kg, like oursleves did, hence, most of the females would not enter as there was not a lot of choice etc, etc, etc.

New for 2010 the U.M.A. will be introducing the 'U.M.A. Team Cup' Award

The U.M.A. will be Awarding the Team/Club with the most points scored at the Championships with the 'U.M.A. Team Cup'.

By Team/Club we mean Team or Club, not a group of Teams/Clubs from different Towns or Cities throughout the U.K. etc, from/with the same Chief Instructor or Organisation etc.

This is how the point scoring system will work for the top 3/4 placed Fighters:

10 Points for a 1st place Win
4 Points for a 2nd place runner up
1 point for either a 3rd and/or for the joint 3rd placesGood luck to all the Fighters and Teams/Clubs next week.

The Closing Date has been extended to Midnight Wednesday 28th April to try and encourage the Teams and Clubs out there to enter more Juniors and Females, we have 75+ Adults so far, but only 3 females 16+ and only 10 kids 15 years old and under, and all from the same Club, so any Clubs or Teams out there with Juniors 15 years old and under and the Ladies 16+, then support this Event for the benefit of them both, we put on decent kids and ladies Brackets etc, sio use them or you could end up having less Divisions and Brackets for the Kids and Ladies in the future etc, so as the saying goes, use it or lose it...

There are still entries coming in as we extended the deadline to try and attract more Juniors and Females etc, but mainly Seniors are registering, you will receive the Full Schedule for the Event and all details for all Divisions, Brackets, Players names and Clubs etc, on Thursday.

We could do with more Female and Male Juniors, so if your club has anymore who may want enter, then please feel free to enter them before midnight Wednesday, here is what we are looking to fill:

Junior Boys under 45kg, we have two boys, both who are from the same club entered at the moment.
Junior Boys O65kg we only have one boy entered at the moment.
Junior Girls U25kg we only have one girl entered at the moment.Females 16+ we have one female in each of the following Brackets: U60kg, U70kg and O80kg, if you have any females for the following brackets that want to compete etc, then please get them registerd and entered etc.

Mens Advanced (18 + months experience) O95kg we only have one male entered at the moment.
Mens Advanced (18 + months experience) U95kg we have two men, both who are from the same club entered at the moment.
