Have enjoyed RC planes sometime (with varying degrees of success), but yesterday I treated myself to my first Nitro Fuel RC Car (second hand)
My god how much fun are these ! takes a little while to get to grips with the fuelling, glow plugs and carburettor settings etc but with just a few hours tinkering I'd got myself a very noisy and stupidly fast RC Car
I took it to a near empty shopping car park near me and ended up with quite a crowd of onlookers, I swear it must have been hitting 40mph which doesn't sound that fast but it feels it!
I strongly recommend them for killing a couple of Sunday afternoon hours, any of you guys got/had them ?
(Disclaimer: No, I will not grow up)

Had one when i was about 13 bro. Mitsubishi shell on it, and yeah around 40 mph, what people dont take into consideration is the short space of time it takes to get there. SOOOOO fast!!
Open car park and the world is your oyster, it was just costing me too much in fixtures, new tires, petrol, breakages, spark plugs etc. for a 13 year old on a paper round this was rather costly. So i sold it...:(
Was an awesome little toy though. I would get one again no doubt, when i have money to spare :)

some little fucker in my road hit me in the ankle with one of these, fucking hurt like mad. I went to stamp on it and it speeded off. How he laughed as I looked like i was someone special having a fit.

I raced nitro off rd and elec on rd cars at national level till a few weeks ago. Its awsome but my god it costs a fortune. Id defo recomend it at club level or just in a car park etc.

depends what you want and were you live, If you want to race at a high level or mess around and what you like?
A electric car can do around 5-7 mins on a battery race over, some nitro races can last upto 1hr with pit stops (this is awsome)
Electric and nitro are not faster than each other either they deliver the power in different ways, Electric is there as you want it, nitro needs to build revs.
Then Noise, If you bombing up and down your street or local park people wont like a constant nitro sound were as elect is pretty silent.
Take a look here to see the diff between top end racing and messing about, Some nitro on rd cars hit over 90mph same with elec.

Some of them events ive done and they were awsome.
Costs, I spent around £400 car, £300 engine, £90 exhaust, £150 servos, £400 radio, £50 shell, £30 fuel, that will get you racing then you need spares, tools, bags, 2 of everything above really. it can get stupid lol
