I own a small MMA club just outside of London and I’m about to double my space to approx 3,000sq ft. So I’m interested what equipment would you have in your ideal gym?

Ropes, kettle bells, tyres and what type of bags?

A cage a ring and a matted area. as these are the three main arenas that students are likely to be competing in/on depending on their level/experience.

hanging bags

free weights and kettlebells

Crossfit equiptment ( jumping benches, medicine balls slambags ropes etc)

large screen tv on the wall

possibly a treadmill and a rowing machine if there is space.

I recently moved to a place with about 3200 sq ft and possibly a bit more if i can put stairs in to the area above the office changing rooms. i let a local boxing club train there in exchange for use of their 2 spare boxing rings until the day i can afford my own, and i have a matted area about 8m x 13m which i am building a cage around.

i got the place cheap because the roof leaks and has basically been labelled unfixable, i have jury rigged a temporary solution, that will require some maintenance. by the time i get it looking just how i want it the landlord will kick me out.

A good chillout area, If you can relax at the gym it becomes a home away from home, good for business and good for team spirit

a chillout area? fuck me he said 3000 sq ft not 30 000 sq ft.

you put in 2 changing rooms and toilets, a small storeroom for stock ( t shirts shorts gumshields etc) and office, a matted area around 10 x10 then a 14 ft boxing ring and a 16ft cage and you will be left with enought space for one wall of hanging bags.

the question was, "what equipment would be in your ideal gym"

Im not talking about a full wet area with a costa coffee and soft play area lol

If short of space, why have a cage and a ring, have a ring and part of a cage

fair enough, i might ask my lot, and see if a chillout zone, or more acurately, unallocated space with a vending machine would be of interest

Lol at your response above mate. He doesn't mean a mini bar, restaraunt and bistro :D

We have a sofa (3 seater) and some little tables and chairs in a space that must be 15 by 15 foot. You walk through it to get to the changing rooms, its good to chill in there before or after training. I normally sit down and have a protein shake and talk to some of the lads before i go home. Its actually a nice feature.

Vending machine better be full of apples and water, the guys cutting for a fight will be too tempted :p

i figured thats what he meant, a couple of sofas and a table, but my place is about the same size as the op's and it seems like an extravagant use of space considering how everything is cramped in.

My ideal gym would be:
----------------------------
Ring.
Cage.
Few bags.
Weight Set.
Big matted area.

And a computer to do a bit of cage warrioring in between rests.

Matting, lots of matting. And a high level of instruction.

That's all I need.
