To fornicate for the reproduction of human life, thereby continuing the existence of our species?
To get extremely drunk and scream FUCK THE WORLD?
To live and die fighting for what we believe in?
To invade foreign land under false pretences?
To preach peace and forgiveness even though we carry all the tools for war?
To idolise idiotic celebrities?
What is the meaning of this life?

get born>>>get educated>>>work and earn money to support kids>>>reproduce>>>raise kids to be good people>>>get old>>>die>>>hope kids do the same and there's an upward spiral of prosperity and happiness
thats about it
Must be more to live that just going to work, kids and being shackled by a wife and mortgage. As much as I'd like to disagree with soreshins I do think that there isn't much point if you don't have kids which I'd like to have some day.

General: the successful continuation of the species.
Specific: passing on your own specific genetic traits.

we're just physical specimens on this earth, there's no higher meaning. we're animals and we're meant to be here to breed and continue life. other than that there's little other purpose, just have as much fucking fun as possible.

I know that. There's obviously more to life but that is our main purpose. Everything else is just a man made artificial creation.

We seem to be mostly hardwired to fuck. Nearly everyone loves doing it, so I'd have to say to reproduce and keep on going.

What if your life has no meanINing?
TBH I don't think life has no meaning. It's what we make it out to be.

There is no meaning in life.
You are a biological entity with a high level of cognitive ability. Just enjoy yourself.

Got to say, thats why we are in this mess, because of this kind of thinking. There is truth in meaning and we seek meaning in truth.People search for these things because they enjoy it because its the challenge set by our evolved cognitive abilities. So I say Robs statement is bollocks, though hes normally quite logical.

Human beings define their own meaning in this world. We are here to reproduce and pass on our knowledge to our offspring's. That's not good enough for the majority of people (me included) so we search for all sorts of things to define us, define our life and our place in this world.

In defence of the whole procreation and reproduction angle, that is only the base line.
for example, survival is not to be expected nor is it very likely in the grand scheme of things. One day this planet will die and so too will all life on it, and the only species capable of getting off is us, we have not only the slim chance to continue our species beyond the life span of the planet that seeded us, but we also have the chance, and some might say duty to bring with us samples of the incredible bio-diversity around us.
In the meantime, there is still a lot to do, building a better society, learning about the universe around us, building on the strengths of our ancestors, learning from and fixing their mistakes, and creating more and more opportunites for our children to do the same in turn.
We have a chance to stand on the shoulders of giants.

But we wont, and its all the romans fault. We care to much about ourselves to leave adequate provision for a new world, either on this world or beyond,we dont live in a river,we live in a pond.

Saturday night, on returning home from a mates house on the last bus, with the worst detritus that my area has to offer, it would have been hard to disagree with you mitch, i dispaired for humanity, i really did.
But then watching an hours worth of ted talks videos, of people curing water shortages, or learning how bacteria communicate, has given me hope.
If we do ever live up to the responsibility of preserving the biodiversity of this planet elsewhere, i dont imagine we will all be going, if you catch my drift.

Survivability of offspring is human instinct. But I don’t understand how evolution and instinct could've taught the first humans right from wrong; because doing what’s right is usually a sacrifice.

various
1. We are definitely here to experience 'mortality' in our physical form. We are here to be born, experience highs and lows, to suffer and to die.
2. Reproduce. I believe reproduction is part of the karmic wheel and is not a necessity, its fate and is in place to further our understanding of our 'experience' on a level that we are yet to understand. Obviously it has its practical uses for the furtherment of a species.
3. Evolve. This is part and parcel of 1 and 2 as well as a point on its own. Our understanding of the human experience and our ability to surpass it, to experience 'universal truth', this 'meeting with the unknown', that helps us forward as a species from our physical experience and beyond. This meeting with the unknown is not just about experience beyond the physical but is also very much about human nature. For example, extreme perseverance, concentration, physical exertion, competition, combat, sorrow, hate, love etc, but to experience these humanties on a universal plane.... very wishy washy, if Rob-T was here he would have a filed day LOL
But we wont, and its all the romans fault. We care to much about ourselves to leave adequate provision for a new world, either on this world or beyond,we dont live in a river,we live in a pond.
Yeah, but I believe these things have a way of working themselves out. Indeed, we are living unnaturally, going away from our natural human ways, neglecting the earth and choosing to pollute it rather than live off it. We're captive in a society where there's prisions without walls, Media dictates to us values, how we should live and we're made to eat rich food and drink with chemicals which make us put on weight and makes us die of cancers.
We will change one way or another, even if it takes a big natural disaster which forces us to change. Nevertheless, I'm thinking centuries into the future.
