Need to get a new PC, looking to spend £400-500 and it's basically for net/work/porn/video/picture editing (not real high quality stuff, just the simple camcorder cutting etc. it must have a firewire port)

Where should i be looking? I always hear it's better off to buy online them places like PC World as you get more for your money

Also when it says 'wi-fi yes/no' is that how you connect to the net through a route? like for example my laptop i just turn it on and it connects to the net straight away but if the PC doesn't have wi-fi would i need to buy a stick or something?

Unless your doing video editing Macs in my opinion are overpriced.

With Google Chrome OS coming out aswell the game could change drastically, they are going to get rid of the cirus culture PC's suffer from I hope.

They're just better. They look better, the screen on the iMac is better than HD, 1440p I think, they feel as solid as you like. Programs work with them without having to sort out a ton of admin gash and comparability issues.

They are a joy.

"they look better" is the common reason for spending epic more, I understand if you want to be trendy haha.

But you can get higher than HD screens from Dell etc

Admin gash? I haven't had any issues with compatibility for a fair few years on any system now.

Saying they are just better doesn't make it so :) ..... it all depends what you use your computer for, for instance: gaming on a mac vs a PC would be an amusing joke.

Yeh, I don't play games on my computers. Theres compatability issues, wth XP, Vista and probably W7 now too.
The Dell screen isnt as good as the iMac screen and at how much you'd pay for that plus the pc its way more.

It does look infinately cooler. I love the fact there are no wires. Just the power. How its all built into the screen.

But mostly, how it just performs better, navigating a Mac is just better, it takes a little bit of getting used to after a windows PC, but once you got it, you wonder why you ever put up with a PC.
Especially with virus' and slow down, that you just do not get on Macs.

Dont buy a mac, they are over priced. They run on the same chip systems as a pc now, its basically just a rebranded more expensive computer.

Jay is also correct, you can get a dell ulta sharp monitor for about 900 quid, that will blow your socks off. super HD and better than any mac screen.

the Dell Monitor is 2,560 x 1,440, which is the same as the iMac. Are you going to get a PC that looks as good, and matches the performance of the Mac for an extra 4/500?

Then you still have all the extra cables.

you can get all built in one pc's aswell. i would never go back to a mac personally.

sorry mate, thats old school talk. Its about response times now. Dell destroys the mac screen as you will get artifacting and blurred effect on things moving.

That was a major concern for me also, I've read that Apple Cinema monitors are like 16ms? that is baaaaaaaaaad.

indeed, it a pro screen. But with mac your limited.

No limitations with pcs. Only advantage with a mac is that it looks nice.

I nearly bought a mac to be fair, but then i realised I could build a far superior system for the same price with expandability, so dont feel bad you fella into the mac trap :D

Fair play the Macbook Air is a bit of an expensive joke, but with the iMac you get what you pay for.

Yes there are a ton of expandable possibilities with a PC. But I would rather have the stability and style.

Our whole office is Mac, its a proper Apple fanboy club

PCs are stable if your not installing dodgy stuff / visiting dodgy sites etc.

18 months ago, I upgraded to Girlfriend 1.0 from DrinkingMates 4.2,which I had used for years without any trouble. However, there are apparently conflicts between these two products and the only solution was to try and run Girlfriend 1.0 with the sound turned off. To make matters worse, Girlfriend 1.0 is incompatible with several other applications, such as LadsNightOut 3.1, Football 4.5, and Playboy 6.9. Successive versions of GirlFriend proved no better. I tried a shareware program, Slapper 2.1,but it had many bugs and left a virus in my system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks.

Eventually, I tried to run GirlFriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other and they caused severe damage to my hardware. I eventually upgraded to Fiancée 1.0, only to discover that this product soon had to be upgraded further to Wife 1.0. While Wife 1.0 tends to use up all my available resources, it does come bundled with FreeSexPlus and Cleanhouse2005. Shortly after this upgrade, however, I found that Wife 1.0 could be very unstable and costly to run. Any mistakes I made were automatically stored in Wife 1.0's memory and could not be deleted. They then resurfaced months later when I had forgotten about them. Wife 1.0 also has an automatic Diary, Explorer and E-mail filter, and can, without warning, launch TurboStrop and Whinge.

These latter products have no Help files, and I have to try to guess what the problem is. Additional problems are that Wife 1.0 needs updating regularly, requiring ShoeShop Browser for new attachments and Hairstyle Express which needs to be installed every other week. Also, when Wife 1.0 attaches itself to my Audi TT hard drive, it often crashes. Wife 1.0 also comes with an irritating pop-up called MotherInLaw, which can't be turned off. Recently I've been tempted to install Mistress 2005, but there could be problems. A friend of mine has alerted me to the fact that if Wife 1.0 detects Mistress 2003, it tends to delete all of your Money before uninstalling itself.

jesus, take the mac vs pc elsewhere lol!

i can't build it myself as i haven't got a clue what any of it is/where to put it, tbh this is only gonna be for normal day to day sort of stuff, don't need something super fancy. might pop into pc world tomorrow and have a look.
