There seems to have been a historical lack of boxers from European countries like France, Spain, Italy and even Germany at the highest level. Okay there are exceptions but has anyone got any ideas about why this might be? Is it just not as much a part of the culture?

I assume your talking about the professional main stage mate because the eurpean countries do pretty well on the amateur world level. I'm guessing part of the reason is to do with Profesional boxing being a business as well as a sport and in terms of a countries economics a lot of european countries won't have the same support as some of the more powerful countries. This may explain why many european countries are more successfully known for their amateur boxers as opposed to their professionals.
The dude who mentioned going to Italy and bashing people up --- I'd hope you'd be of a good standard or you might find your ass being knocked the fck out by some sub standard world class pro--Metaphorically, who happens to be a European Amateur champion!
Another interesting thing about boxing is the Cubans as their harbour some of the best fighters in the world but their country forbids them to turn pro, the pros I have seen are mediocre. I's love to see a Haye - Solis rematch! Goodnight Solis. Stay cool gents.
