You never really hear about boxers struggling to cut weight but in mma it seems to happen on a regular basis can anyone answer why this is?

thats not true, i know loads of boxer who have issues cutting weight. they also get to a point that they dont like what they do.
Boxing is more old school and the fighters tend to fear the trainers more lol

I agree, I have boxed for a long time and seen people walk away from shows without a bout because of weight problems. Opponents have done it to me, not nice when you have travelling supporters, in mma this is uncommon, people turn up weigh right and fight, mma don't have the silly weights that boxing has neither, 60kg - 63kg, reduces the number of fighters in a weight division at competitions.

This is only my intepretation but boxers tend to keep a more regular weight throughout their training (Long runs, skipping etc), being of a different skill set boxers are less dependant on muscle bulk where as in MMA (Generally speaking) strength is a bigger attribute, having more muscle mass and training for strength endurance normally means periodisation is maybe more utililised at the begginer/intermediate levels of mma where as amateur boxers are normally ready to fight within a weeks notice on season. So in conclusion boxers have less variance in their body weight due to the way in which they train compared to MMAists. Kind of? MAybe? :p
