Hi Guys,
I was wondering, are the BJJ Sparring classes suitable for a jiu jitsu beginner (only been to a few of the fundamentals classes)?

There's no good reason not to attend bjj sparring at any academy, at worst you risk a bruised ego.

Sparring at grip will improve your abilities much more than just doing the technique classes. I would highly recommend it. You'll start off getting owned and then in about 6 months you'll realise stark improvements in your game.

I'd say get along to sparring as soon as possible. I've been going to the fundamentals classes at grip for 3 weeks and been to sparring for a fortnight. Nothing to loose, great fun, a good workout, plus you won't be the only beginner there.

dude, dont listen to them..
they are just animals, u as a begginer will b seen as a fresh meat, and end up like me with popped elbow, raptured lagiment and cut lips as everyone tries to establish himself as an alpha male...
oh and most of the fckrs are on roids anyway so YOU = outlet of ROID RAGE.
They will make you hate jits and you will probably drop out making pocket of gym owners lighter.
Oh... let us know your experience if any different. Stick to Kenny's way: dodge sparring by prettending you are competely exhausted (ie. moaning noises).

Kenny spars all the time. However, it's usually during the technique class against unsuspecting victims and it's never during the actual drilling part.

it's either food on the table or griphouse.
i met him once on the way back from grip on ali parade.
he was coming back from the dominos with freebie pizza he got for buying the sun or something...
i asked him to give me his copy as he got wot he had gone 4 and i could get a freebie as well. unfortunatelly miserable fuck told me to buy one myself and went toward glasgow cross.
pissed me off to the point of stiching his voodoo doll and making knee compression on it 3 hours straight.
that should have taught him a lesson or two.

Is that why he kept randomly shouting "GAAAAH!" then? You should change your name to Voodoo Dan.

Clearly he was attempting to use the ancient art of Kiai to enhance his jiu jitsu, but his mighty cries left him too tired to roll.
