I've been to that part of Phuket numerous times and its usually reasonably safe.

However, the bar where it kicked off is dodgy as hell. Full of ex-pat cokeheads, wasters and crooks and not somewhere you want to hang around too long.

Only a matter of time before something like this happened.

So he started a fight with a soldier for pretty much no reason, then was actually getting his ass kicked before it got broken up, then being the little bitch he is he couldn't handle that fact and got a knife to take his revenge.
