I recently posted a video on youtube with an eminem song in the background. I got a message saying I have posted a vid with material owned by GMC or something or other.
Have I breached some kind of copyright laws or something ? I see loads of vids where people have used common tracks ? Im confused....Doesn't take much. I'm thinking I should probably take it down.

Im not sure if you have to put "I do not own any rights to the track" etc. in the description or something. Im not 100% but I've seen that in the description before, and the vids weren't taken down.
Nice vid though dude.
You can't do anything about it, they don't take the video down they just remove the audio. As far as I know it's checked while you upload the video.

I think that blanking of the audio only happens if you use the whole audio track, If you edit it, cut and splice it with other tracks or just use a portion of the track then it doesnt get cut. (i think)
Wether this still holds true or not I don't know. But apparently having no music for the first 30 seconds may be enough to allude the audio fingerprinting.

Nothing I hate more than finding a music video on youtube, but the audio has been disabled because of stupid copyright laws.

if you use a song thats copyrighted youtube just mute the song from your video so you can no longer hear it. its happened to about 4-5 videos that i made which has pissed me right off as it's spoilt the videos i spent ages making and i was using songs (oasis for example) from cd's that i had actually purchased and burnt onto my computer
obviously with millions of videos not everyone gets caught.
