Apologies if the wrong section but couldn't see any threads similar elsewhere.

I have managed to ruin my right leg doin muay Thai and I'm looking for tip to help it heal.

I sparred on Friday and threw a right leg kick which was blocked and managed to catch someones knee. This hurt but just the normal shin pain type pain. However, last night I threw the same kick and it was again blocked and this hurt like hell, I mean ridiculous pain, I thought I'd snapped my leg in 2 and couldn't continue with the session and can hardly walk today.

The injury isn't on my shin but the muscle running along the shin. When I push on it or massage it, it's absolute agony and makes me feel sick. Also I can't put any weight on my right leg especially not putting my weight forward.

What is this injury?

How can I make it heal as quick as pos?

Cheers

Sounds like a dead leg type injury to the tibialis anterior.

Rest, ice, compression & elevation is the regular route.

Take a couple days off, ice the muscle & tie the ice pack tight to the muscle, i usually use an old work tie and elevate, lie on floor with foot on couch, get nissus to bring you a cuppa & watch some old UFC DVDs!

Do this for 20mins. If its still sore in a few days id go to A&E, much quicker than doc appoint.

I have exactly the same thing. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do. I went to the Dr and she told me to take Ibuprofen and it has helped a lot. It's basically trauma to the soft tissue so avoid too much pressure on the area and wear shins even when kicking pads. When it finally heals (I've had mine over 2 months) you'll be left with a nice hard lump - yummy :p
