Im definately a firm believer in doing specific strength and conditioning sessions outside of your normal MMA training and in particularly periodising your training into phases so as to break down and address each component of athletic development. Some disagree and think they can get all the athletic development they need from regular striking/grappling/mma classes.

Now Im not interested in opening that particular can of worms, it been done to death and theres plenty of other threads debating it. What I am interested in finding out is, of those of you who do do S & C sessions normally when in the UK; what do you do about them when you go away to train in places like Thailand/Brazil?

Its very early days and it might not happen yet for various reasons, but Im looking at hopefully making my maiden trip to Thailand later this year to train. I dont want to build it up and say too much and be one of those sayers and not doers. All depends on the work situation which is a bit unsure at the mo cos I work for the Council. Anyway, my point being, when I look at the gyms in Brazil for grappling and Thailand for Muay Thai that most people on here suggest, I see that they do twice daily sessions morning and afternoon.

Those of you who go out there regularly and normally do S & C over here in the UK, how do you go about it abroad or do you fuck it off for the time you're there?

Thanks in advance.

Are you in line for a possible redundancy mate?

I was working for myself contracted tto the local magistrates, and they regionalised the contracts, all small firms were pushed out.

I was trainning for my CEMAP back in july 2008, we allknow what happend next, then

I now run a parking management company, which the new goverment are trying to ban.

If i worked for the goverment, there would probably be a coup

You mean you're a private wheel clamper???!!!!

I went through all my CeMAP 1, 2, 3s and Financial Planning quals only to be made redundant in May 2008. CeMAPs have been replaced with something else now. Without the sub prime market, the need for brokers is very much diminished. Im looking at redundancy possibly august time. Im looking at other public sector and private sector jobs and Im completeing an AAT diploma in Accountancy. Skipped 1st yr, complete 2nd yr in May then will do the 3rd in Sept cos its equivalent to a degree and hopefully in the long term will open some doors and opportunities.

Im thinking about Thailand whether Im in a job or not. Im saving up now and some of any redundancy money will be used too. Ill have to see how it pans out.

In Rio there was a a really sweet outdoor gym at Arpodor between copacabana and ipanema, they had pull up stations cement barbells and some dumb bells.

It right on the beach and the guys who train there were really cool. I just used all that was lying around and had a bit of fun. This was one of the workouts i did.

Hang Snatch 4x5

Bulgarian split squat
Inverted row
Pistol squat
Plyo push up
Ghetto pull ups

Supersetted these for 8-12 reps and did as many sets as i felt like then went got a cocunut.
