Iniesta, Xavi, Messi, Pepe, Dani Alves and Maicon all to Liverpool for a combined £6m would do me!
:D
In all seriousness....I think someone should sign Charlie Adam too, and i'm sure they will now Blackpool have gone down. I think he will go to Man U to be honest, given that they will be saying bye to Hargreaves and possibly Scholes so will have some Midfield gaps. I also think Man U will sign Ashley Young and the De Gea deal looks certain.
I see Arsenal going in for some French/African players that nobody has ever heard of (despite Wenger talking about spending big)
Man City will make it rain like a rap star who just got his first deal (with little thought given to positions or suitabilty)
Tottenham will by wingers and forwards (well they do, don't they!)
Not sure about Chelsea, guess it depends on who they get in as boss

Lol, great asessment of Arsenal, Spurs and City there. Suarez has looked a great signing eh?

Suarez has looked a great signing eh?
he's awesome, a massive talent. I described him to others before we signed him (having watched him play for AJAX) as like Tevez without the sportmanship and workrate and i stick by it. He's got glue on his boots and when he starts scoring he wont stop! He had a ridiculous goals/games ratio at AJAX and although I appreciate the Dutch league is less talented, the bottom line is he still looks more than capable of skinning defenders in the EPL to get in to those positions!
In case you didn't guess, I quite like him lol :p
KeiranMc
26-05-2011, 07:53 PM
Would you rather have him or 'El Nino'? The form he is in at the moment i would take Heskey instead of him although i reckon he will come good at Chelsea, and for the money from him you got Suarez and Caroll.

Imho Torres is the best striker in the prem hands down (despite his shaky start - which pleases me greatly :)). But Suarez and Carroll are better for the club right now and what we need (politicians answer lol)

apparently we have secured friedal as a back up keeper but would like to see us sign fabio coantrao or jose enrique as left back and ashley young or downing as left wing. i think scott parker could be a decent addition to the squad.
other players ive heard we are linked with is sergio aguero who would cost a bomb as he recently signed a contract so athletico can charge shit loads and diego who is aparently costing around £15 million.
either way i have faith in king kenny

Arsenal and Spurs apparently interested in Porto's Radamel Falcao (19 europa league goals this season)
P.S Robbie Keane should come back up to Celtic on loan :-)

I've never understood why people rate Downing (syndrome) so much. I hope he never plays for Eng-er-land again. Young, Adam Johnson, Milner, my dad. etc. are all much better.
And I wouldn't use success in the Dutch league as a barometer of talent. Kežman had a much better record than Suarez and look how he turned out (of course Suarez is a much better player, I'm just being awkward).
Will Liverpool get a champions league place next season?

At who's expense? Chelsea and Man Utd will finish top two again. Man City will splash yet more cash. Arsenal? I think the same for teams will make the CL again next season (and Spurs will push Liverpool close for 5th place).

Sometimes, but lately it's been more a case of us ending up with players like Eboue, Denilson and Bendtner.
This summer we MUST spend properly or Wenger won't be here by the end of the season.

We're being linked to every man and his dog. Scott Parker, Upson or Samba would be just what we need. need to spend what we get for fabregas on a creative midfielder and reliable goal scorer and we'd be a far better side than this season.

I understand Arsenal fans' frustration they are soooooooooooo close to being the finished article but Wenger wont bite the bullet and finish the missing peieces of the jigsaw off!
Imo it is because he wants to be known as the only man in recent times who won the league on a tight budget and with a pretty much home grown setup, but with the likes of City, Utd and Chelsea throwing money about they will always be 'nearly but not quite'.
Arsenal literally only need three players and they would probably win the Prem! One top centre half, a top holding player and a top finisher....done!

Agree with that totally.
though id argue wenger has already achieved winning the league without spending, when we won it in 2004 we did it at a loss (i.e. had sold more players than had bought)
read an old article the other day that had been dragged up, 2 years old, where wenger said we need to stick by and support his philosophy of youth and if in 2 years it hasnt worked he'll admit his wrongs and rectify it, that time has now come and we need - and expect - exactly what you said, a leader in the defence, a strong central midfielder and reliable goalscorer.

Easier said than done. Everyone is looking for a top goalscorer and it would take a serious outlay to get all three. Wenger is pretty hesitant about splashing out on players. Reyes and Arshavin didn't/havn't worked out as planned. Cahill and Parker would be good buys.

Skysports.com can confirm that Sunderland have rebuffed an approach from Liverpool for midfielder Jordan Henderson.
Manchester United and Manchester City had both been keeping close tabs on the England international.
But Liverpool have suddenly made a surprise move for the talented young midfielder, who can play out wide or in the middle.
Kenny Dalglish is clearly looking to invest heavily this summer and Henderson has emerged as one of his top targets.
It is understood the Anfield outfit's initial interest would have seen them willing to pay £13million, but Sunderland have rebuffed their advances.
The Wearside outfit, though, may be willing to do business at a much bigger price - £20milllion plus - as they have their own midfield targets.
Skysports.com understands one of those is Manchester United's Darron Gibson, and Steve Bruce is ready to approach his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson over his availability and also that of defender Wes Brown
Go to £15m Kenny ... c'mon :D

Ok so time to revive this one!
Whats everyone's thoughts so far on the wheeling and dealing??
I'm happy from a Liverpool perspective, Henderson, Downing and especially Adam who I think will prove to be the best of the three at least straight off.
----------------------------------
On a side note, I'm a little surprised at some of the Prem activity (or lack thereof)
* Diego Capel has gone to Sporting for peanuts (he could have done a job for a 6th-10th place Prem side)
* Felipe Melo has gone to Galatasaray on loan (could have made a top 1st-6th squad if not starter). He would have been perfect for Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea who all need an 'anchor' type midfielder and Liverpool could likely have swapped him for Aquilani !
* Bojan is going to Roma for £10m ish, he would have been a great signing for Arsenal over that Ivorian fella surely!?
* Jeffran can leave Barca for single figures, at his age would love Liverpool to go in for him, Chelsea could do with the width also!
* Momo Sissoko is apparantly available for £8m and being linked with Stoke???!!! Surely a bigger club in the EPL must be interested he was a cracking player for us, again would be more than happy with an Aquilani swap there!
So how are your clubs all doing???

im happy with the signings but totally agree the fees involved are crazy!
difficult because i think we could've got much better value for money in Europe, but I guess he's gone for guys he thinks/knows will hit the ground running.
Also difficult because Liverpool still wont attract the very top players until they are winning stuff again, so options are limited

well we've picked up Gervinho who looks pretty handy. an attacking player who can play on both wings or upfront, so exactly what we need to compliment our regularly used formation of one man up top with two forward attacking wingers. happy with that signing so far.
still desperately need a defender, apparently had bids for cahill and jagielka turned down so at least the problems have been recognised.
fabregas looks set to leave as he's not in our squad touring germany and nasri has apparently turned down another contract THE FRENCH CUNT!!!
would still like parker or the like to take pressure off of wilshere and ramsey in the midfield, another good solid english defender and someone like valencias Mata who we're linked with.
of course then if we lose nasri and fabregas they'll need replacing adequately which won't happen so we'll be right royally fucked.

i read the stories, but wasn't sure of the in's and out's of it. Enlighten me....why did he want to go and not showcase himself in the Prem in the first place? Or was it the club listening to the offer for money reasons?

The owner's do seem like pricks. Hiking up the ticket prices to £infinitybillion when they took over was gay. Warnock was saying that if they had sold Taarabt, he wouldn't have got the money to spend anyway, which seems odd. Surely after promotion is the time to spend? I quite like QPR and I hope they stay up but they'll need to bring in some players.

Adel has many advisors telling him all sorts of things. He's also wanting to be closer to his family in france (especially after his cousin was shot dead a few months ago). Spurs get %40 of whatever we sell him for. Guess Bernie and Flabbio came to there senses and realized is wasn't worth selling him.
End of the day he's unproven in the premiership and will be intresting to see how he fairs.
Apparently our transfer budget 1.25mill which is just digusting to be frank, given what making it to the prem rakes in for the club!

You're forgetting "The Liverpool Effect" - we take players who are playing just below their potential and make them great (Hyypia, Alonso, Titi Camara, Mascherano, Maxi and Meireles [you'll see!]...) and we take great players and make them SHITE (Morientes, Litmanen, Kewell, Anelka, Cisse, [shit, this list could go on all day]...).
So basically, what I'm saying is, Downing is a rough diamond that I'm sure will come good at Anfield :D

Paris St Germain have struck a deal with Juventus to sign Mohamed Sissoko but the midfielder still needs to agree personal terms.
Stoke have also been linked with a move for the Mali international but PSG are now firmly in pole position to land his signature.
Reports earlier this week suggested the French club had made a bid in the region of €7million (£6.2m) and Juventus have now confirmed a fee has been agreed.
Juve are ready to let former Liverpool player Sissoko leave after three years in Turin and he must now decide if he wants to accept their offer.
"I can confirm that we did reach an agreement with PSG director Leonardo," stated Juve official Beppe Marotta.
Arsenal must be MENTAL!!! £7m for Momo is a bargain! I would have loved him to come back to us, but he would be an even better fit for Wenger who's lot are crying out for a battling defensive midfielder

Spain & Italy have a more relaxed & reserved culture compared to britain. Majority of argentine population speak spanish and reside in in those countries. The climate is similiar to argentina so it would be easier for his family to settle plus avoiding the language barrier. Majority of of argentinians migrate to spain specifically for work (mainly for professional work e.g. Accountants etc.)

I've always had a soft spot for Arsenal ever since Ian Wright, Paul Merson etc, even more so in the Wenger years with the beautiful style that they play so i REALLY don't like to see results like this :(
Arsenal are understood to be close to finalising a deal for Brazil international Andre Santos.
Left-back Santos is set to arrive from Fenerbahce in a deal worth just over £6million.
The 28-year-old has over 20 caps for Brazil, and is now believed to be in London ahead of completing a deal to Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal are in need of cover at left-back having sold Gael Clichy to Manchester City earlier in the summer and recently allowing Armand Traore to talk with newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers.
It is believed that Arsenal could complete the deals for defender Santos and Monaco striker Park Chu-young on Tuesday.
and transfers like this aren't going to ease the burden any are they!
A 28 year old Brazilian who's only managed 20ish caps (for a country that plays about 20 times a year) and a striker nobodies ever heard of :(

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney would have no qualms with Owen Hargreaves joining Manchester City, stating he wishes the midfielder 'luck'.
The former Red Devils man, who was released by the club over the summer, could be on the verge of a move to Etihad Stadium as he is believed to be undergoing a medical.
Hargreaves was signed from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich for a lofty fee in May 2007 and despite early good form his tenure was ultimately heavily disrupted by a succession of injuries.
The 30-year-old has been proving his fitness this summer and now it seems that United's city rivals are willing to take a punt on the Canadian-born star, who, if fit, was regarded as world class.
Rooney knows Hargreaves well following their time together at Old Trafford and the England ace would not begrudge him a move to City having seen how hard he has worked to regain full fitness.
Worked hard
"He's been out for a couple of years now. He worked hard to try and get back," explained Rooney to Sky Sports News.
"A lot of the time he was over in Germany or the States trying to get fit. We didn't really see much of him.
"When he came back he came close to playing. He played one game and unfortunately he got another injury to his hamstring.
"He's nice lad. He's worked extremely hard to try and get back playing. The manager felt that he didn't want to keep hold of him. I wish him luck. Hopefully he gets back playing.
"When he's fully fit he's a great player. He's different type of midfield player to what we've had in England. We all hope as England players and fans that he gets back to his best
Jesus! If they buy anyone else there wont be any players left to play for other teams....hmmm maybe that's their plan lol :p

Serious amount of deals look to be going down today!
I'm really surprised about two, those being Palacious to Stoke and Dann to Blackburn, both look likely.
Isn't Palacious the same guy who Spurs spent a fourtune on and pretty much their only defensive midfielder?! I thought he was a serious player
Dann has been linked to Lpool, Arsenal and others, but will likely move to Blackburn who will almost certainly be relegated

Isn't Tom Huddletone a defensive midfielder?
he plays deep, but has no pace and can't really tackle....his main attribute is his distribution so the answer is 'sort of' i suppose lol
Im very disappointed we sold Meireles he's a very gifted player, very graceful and ultra comfortable on the ball :(. Bit disappointed we overlooked Scott Dann as well, a scouse lad and a snip at £7m
I think the thing with Meireles this season would be with us looking like playing 2 up front and the midfielders we have now bought, I can't see where he would get 90 minutes week in week out, plus with Kuyt being the go-to utility midfielder on the right or behind the front which is also Raul's sort of area - we still have cover through Dirk so Raul was a luxury. Very good player no doubt but they way I am looking at it is he has made room for Bellamy and that is a good thing, bit more cover up front and we still have plenty of solid midfielders.
There was that rumour about him being promised a new contract by Woy etc as well which hasn't happened.

I wonder if RM has wanted to move for a while but has been professional and not said anything. He doesn't play much and in my opinion deserves to be above Lucas, Henderson and probably Adam in the pecking order. On the plus side we have made £550k on a 28 year old who filled a gap at short notice when Masch left to warm the Barca bench!

He doesn't play much and in my opinion deserves to be above Lucas, Henderson and probably Adam in the pecking order. On the plus side we have made £550k on a 28 year old who filled a gap at short notice when Masch left to warm the Barca bench!
I was devastated when I heard we'd sold him, he was probably my favourite player last year :( Shows how spoiled us LFC fans are lately, when we can sign so many top-level players and still whinge about one player. He was an extremely talented player for us though, I guess there just wasn't enough room left in our midfield to accommodate him.
I think he was more a luxury player than a proper midfielder and with Suarez, Carroll, Kuyt and possibly even Stevie coming back in an advanced role, it must have been obvious to him he wouldn't get many games this year no matter what. Also I wonder if he was on big wages as when we got him a lot of pundits etc seemed surprised he would come to us under Woy when a few top clubs were looking at him - if we offered him big money it would explain it and with the new regime getting rid of big earners not playing week in week out I wasn't shocked when he went, glad to get Cole off the books as well, obviously a bonus for Ngog to go go go - though I kinda have a soft spot for him in a Titi Camara kinda way in that you got glimpses of something with him but he never reached the heights you hoped, at least now he might play week in week out and maybe get to see what he can do then..but he had to go, he wasn't a top four club striker... Bellamy I am made up with replacing him, thats a clever signing that. Just don't let him near the golf clubs again :/
us LFC fans
Hmmmm, LFC fan but a Tea drinker..... not sure if thats allowed you know...
Writes post it note to remind me to speak to Kenny later over a beer and see if he will allow it or if we have to banish you to the blue bit of the city

I wouldn't be surprised if Meireles was on major bucks! I know for a fact that some players at Anfield are on well over £100k a week although it isn't widely publicised (and some who may shock you with how much they earn!!!)
Always had a soft spot for Titi Camara too, he was awesome :)
Remember the game, against West Ham if memory serves me right when he scored and fell onto his knee's crying, I only found out afterward his father I think it was had just passed but he stayed to play in the game, loved that crazy bandy legged fool, he was awesome, a thinking mans Biscan if you please lol...
I wouldn't be shocked, remember seeing a copy of John Arne's wage slip many years ago, dude was on a fair whack even then. I think the new owners will be more prudent in that regard, pay the quality and ship out the crud on big money, its already more than started, though I hate this season already because it has really got me hoping for the first time in a long time that we may be on the way back to the top, the setup is there, the manager is there, best squad in years, feck I am excited... Come back season ticket..I miss you finally :(

Holy shit, I think I love you Evzy! Didn't know you were a LFC fan, but to mention Titi Camara - seriously one of my all-time favourite players... LET'S CALL AN END TO THE WAR!!
Instead of a peace treaty, a round of brews shall be made - and all stirred with the same spoon, so that all former enemies are drinking Coff-Tea. WOW, THAT COULD NOT SOUND ANY GAYER!! Hahaha :D
I have spoken to the army, we have decided that the peace treaty may just work, call us crazy but there may be a way for Coffee and Tea to live in harmony, I am writing a song about it now, though in a clever way I am using the words Ebony and Ivory for Coffee and Tea to just kinda change things up a little...
Hmmm spoon sharing is acceptable, spooning....no fucking chance!

I can't believe so much bloodshed appears to have been avoided, and all because of Titi Camara! A statue should be made in his honour - in fact, it's a downright disgrace that there isn't already a statue of him outside Anfield. Make it happen, spend-happy owners!
The Tea people welcome peace with the people of Coffee.
Maybe once peace is achieved and we all living side by side, cup by mug, brew by espresso, we can take Titi over to Afghanistan and stop the troubles there, pop over Libya as well?

Evzy, you have noticed his name isn't Coffeecoffee Camara haven't you?? ;) lol
The only way to truly put an end to the Tea/Coffee religious war is to call up Chuck Norris and Tony Kent and find out which they prefer :D
Let us not at this moment of peace bring more people into the situation.

I remember seeing that Riise payslip too, from what i recall it was something like 40k a week (we're talking about 7 years ago i think) but his bonuses and all the add ons took him closer to the 100k mark.
