like the pie man said, what happened to your girlfriend is awful, but to point the finger of blame at people like ian and dougie is a tad harsh. However, as you're new around here, you might not realise just how much effort these guys put into not only cagewarriors, but the MMA community as a whole. Now, I'm no expert, but as far as I am aware, it is a considerable financial risk to put on a MMA event, so it is as accurate as it is fair to suppose that the CW team are only interested in money - there are, after all, much easier and more reliable ways of making money. Regarding your accusation that the audience was made up of football yobs instead of MMA fans, I don't know how you would go about keeping audiences limited to fans, short of a small test of knowledge for anyone buying tickets! If MMA is to grow, it needs to expand beyond the small(ish) core of MMA fans, and to gain a wider supportbase. That, in part, comes from accepting anyone who wants to witness an event.

I wasn't at the event last night, but everything I've heard seems to indicate that it was the cheering section of a particular fighter that was primarily responsible for the situation breaking out. Personally, i'd be more inclined towards blaming the (as you quite rightly state) yobs who probably don't even know what MMA stands for, rather than the CW team who have done everything they can for the sport.

In any case, I hope your girlfriend isn't too badly hurt.

Just for the record, regardless of where or who Barrington Patterson is or comes from past included.
He is nothing short of a true proffessional & Gentleman when he steps up to the Cage or Ring to compete. I challenge you Hatchet man to disprove this fact, take into consideration when the inicial troubles were brewing Barrington was being tended too by paramedics, when he first regained conciousness is imediate reaction was to embrace Marc Emmanuelle and to show his supporters that it is a sport & this happens & that he is a bigger man by accepting the loss, he protested to them with conviction he was alright & to leave peacefully.

I will not stand by & watch your witch hunt turn on the fighters that have done nothing wrong, they came to fight & fought a hard fight with courage conviction & honour.

We do "NOT" use fighters to sell tickets, ticket deals are offered to fighters only if they wish, we will fill the Skydome regardless.

Hatchetman although you are more than entitled to your opinion based on what happened to you & your gf of which we all at Cagewarriors regret deeply. but try to philosiphise for a moment, if you have nothing good to say then simply say nothing, there are other more constructive ways to make your point than insults & un-founded mud slinging.

Hatchetman, we are very keen to develop the sport & our hope is that we can help & assist alonglongside other UK promotions, the raising of new talent, we as a promotion only booked Barrington based upon his overseas's fighting career coupled with his local appeal as he origionates from Coventry. If I was to adopt an attitude of vetting fighters based on thier past histories or private lifes, I fear we would lose some pretty good & exciting fighters from the circuit, although I don't dispel your theory or comment, I'm simply not sure if I could be effective in maintaining it as it would take a huge amount of resource to research everyone thouroughly, maybe I'm wrong I don't know.
Just to give you something else to consider whilst deliberating if Barrington is indeed a suitable sportsman or not, one of the identified trouble makers who was a contributing factor in the start of the trouble was indeed one of his students who was on a V.I.P table with other friends of Barrington, once identified to Barrington by the rest of the group, Barrington imediately banned him from the gym, I am simply providing you with known facts for you to weigh your decision fairly.

Hatchet man, you have clearly expressed your concerns & displeasure at both myself & Cagewarriors as a reputable promotion. And I respect that, you have & are entitled to an opinion, I have tried as best I can & with total sincerety & honesty, but you simply wish to keep attacking, why? other people on this board have merely offered thier opinions & you now wish to attack them, why? most people on this board when answering your concerns, all showed you respect & concern for your gf, but yet you still wish to rubbish them, I regret that you no longer wish to attend a CW event, but to be honest if you are going to base that decision on an un-fortunate incident such as what happened, I really don't think you will be missed, fans with your bitter attitude,are of no value to the sport, there are other people that witnessed the same incident as you & although disapointed, they are big enough to come back & give it another go.
