I did my first 'proper' Christmas this year. Spent most of it with my missus and her family who do the whole massive tree, presents under there, decorations, massive meals, eating home cooked food all day for like 3 days straight etc and whilst it was all great to get into itI still felt lost in regards to the huge amount of money spent on gadgets and shit.
I'd much rather be able to pay my rent and feed my kids but nowadays you cant say that cos you'll be called a tight bastard or a scrooge when in reality it's just common sense.
If you have kids, great - do it for a few years then slowly taper it off to just spending time with family and enjoying the time off.
We aren't raising these kids, they are American. I've seen Americans come here and complain the Brits are so poor and backward and even worse in their eyes ...socialist!

I pretty much agree with everything you say, but end of the day it's teenagers being teenagers. Yeah kids are materialistic and an overall nightmare in this day and age but they grow up into adults and mature and see things for what they really are.Quote:
