I think for alot of fighters when they get paid it covers Gym fees, Suppliments, Equipment for fighting and training. Thats my opinion anyway.

Just to add on to what has been said, In scotland i have seen shows on a Fri, Sat and then the Sun. Sometimes all 3 shows featuring guys from the same gym.
