Could be in the pipeline in the near future on the upcoming Grapple and Strike show in September held in Worcester.
For those of you who have not heard of Duffy or Newman, they are THE best two up and coming welter-weight fighters on the semi-pro circuit.
In semi-pro competition Newman is 5-0-0 and and has finished all his fights by either submission or KO in the first round.
Duffy is also 5-0-0 and has two decision wins over the Caged Kombat light-weight champion Daniel Thomas and a first round submission win over Angrrr Management favorite Adam Stanton.
Duffy has an unbeaten amateur record, going 18-0-5.
He was also the second person to finish a fight by a twister in MMA competition after Gerald Strebendt did so on Cage Warriors 7.
In 2005 Duffy won the Welsh Amateur Grapple and Strike League Welter-Weight Title after coming out on top in a grouling four man tournament.
This fight should be seen in the same light as the recent bout between James Saville and Andrew McQueen. A dream match up between two of the most talented up and coming fighters in the UK. But unlike Saville Vs McQueen, both Duffy and Newman are the same weight and have history.
Both fighters have faced off before in 2005 on grapple and strike 9. That night Duffy was victorious as he submitted Newman with a triangle choke. But that was along time ago, under amateur rules. since then both men have gone on to rip through all that stood in their way.
If this fight takes place it will be pro rules and for the Grapple and Strike Welter-Weight title.
Who takes it guys?
