I guess that answers the question as to if Mercer was really training for MMA or not.

DYNAMITE FIGHT SERIES
I dont know, an ex boxer takes on a bare knuckle boxer and gets subbed - what is the world coming to!?!?
It looked to me like Kimbo had actually trained MMA where as Mercer just got in shape.

cheers for the link
Agreed...Kimbo wins against a slouch has been ex pro boxer and all the internet kids jump around like they just saw porn for the first time, he is a chump.
The only thing that interests me with Kimbo fighting mma is watching him getting his arm snapped or ripped out of his socket, until he is put up against someone decent i wont bother wasting bandwidth.
********Spoiler********
I thought he looked good in there. But some definite mistakes - turning Mercer away from the cage with the single and letting himself get swept so readily. And the submission was, for all intents and purposes a "striker's submission." Even a boxer can instinctively do a guillotine. But Kimbo's striking at the start of the fight was on - combinations, knees all on target. And I'm glad that Kimbo got the submission - it may have been part of the plan. Kimbo is marketable but people wouldn't take him seriously as an mma fighter. This clearly shows he's keen to not just be a boxer. It's got people talking - ah shit, the bare knuckle boxer can submit too?
I like Kimbo. He's fun to watch. He fits in more with the Pride/early UFC days in that he's a character. He will get better and he's enjoyable to watch. I just wish he came up with more 1-liners last night... I miss those.
