Default Self Motivation when training cardio.

I was just wondering what people thought about this, mostly because I have genuine difficulty in motivating myself to go out running, sprints, hill sprints etc by myself and doing as much as I know I can do.

I don't know if this is familiar to anyone, and if so what they did to overcome it.

    Opinions??

A major part of sport but is very often overlooked is training your brain. I took a short course in sport psychology. Best thing ever.
Would recomend reading a book on it at least.

For LSD, just put some music on, varrying what you listen to so you change your pace.

I recently got a free Ipod Shuffle. Put all my favorite songs on n fancied listening to it, n what better way to listen to an Ipod than when you're running...so I did. I found it to be quite a motivator actually.

Music deffo, otherwise is dead boring. I like to go on the treadmill but find it really boring but the ipod really helps. I like anything dance, cause you can coordinate the pace with the beat.

When I used to go for runs I usually went with a friend and really helped to cause you couldn't cancel it just cause you didn't feel like going, plus you had someone to chat to. (chatting not compulsory for male readers! lol)

For the males though, chatting to yourself is perfectly fine.

*WARNING* you may receive wierd looks from old ladies walking their dogs.

for me music is a must, i also recommend drawing yourself up a schedule on what you plan to do on which day, print it out and put it somewhere visible.

Start with small amounts of cardio to get yourself into a routine then gradually step it up, this way you will start to see results and means you wont bin it off after 2 weeks

Finally i find it easier to do it in the morning, set my alarm for 10 minutes earlier and get up and go do some hill sprints
    Pain is only temporary

    its all in the head-
if its comp training then aim for that one moment, ie the fight, it all comes down to this moment, if i don't-i lose. that opponent will be doing this.
off season training (not fighting)- purely looking to increase your own performance over your last. so suck it up lol.
i make sure i have plenty of Intense songs for those intense moments and no relaxed tunes as it alters your mood and performance.

    hope that helps,
    everyone hates intence cardio
(if done correctly ) just remember when u're opponent's puffing its all worth it.
